@sw_holocron He was asked once in a yes or no interview whether he’d direct Star Wars and he said “pass”. Could mean anything really, but it’s not a no.
English

Can we please get Christopher Nolan to do a Star Wars movie? He made a Star Wars home movie growing up. He watched the original Star Wars 12 times in theaters. He speaks of Star Wars and George Lucas with such reverence. He knows how to work within big franchises while retaining his voice. He’s one of the best filmmakers working today and Star Wars should be attracting the best filmmakers. It’s a no-brainer.

English

@ryanpw_ They have no reason not to release physical. It’s still the norm for major movies.
English

Small part of me was concerned about a physical release but happy to get confirmation that I can add The Mandalorian and Grogu to the shelf!

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu will be available for digital purchase on July 21st and 4K/Blu-Ray August 25th!
English

@adamhlavac I agree. The image should be as big as it can, and that means cropping it to 1.78:1 for TVs.
English

I genuinely hope not. The 1.43 version on a smaller 16:9 screen doesn't hit the same. I know the internet, and they'll spend every waking moment talking about how Nolan and van Hoytema are bad filmmakers because they have too much headroom in every shot.

Surely The Odyssey will be the movie where the physical media release finally includes the full 70mm aspect ratio, right? RIGHT?????
English

@filmsbyhen I’d rather it take up the whole screen and be cropped then be shrunken down to show the full image. It should be as big as possible.
English

Obviously seeing the actual 70mm projection is going to run laps around it but I don’t understand why theaters don’t offer the option of this aspect ratio with a regular digital projector. Even if there’s black bars on the side who cares when you’re in a dark room
The Cinéprism@TheCineprism
Only 40 cinemas on EARTH could show what NOLAN actually filmed.
English

what does this mean for the Andor S2 steelbook
TALKING BAY 94@TalkingBay94
You're coming home, baby. THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU 4K steelbook (with deluxe packaging and actual bonus features) out next month!!! Thank goodness.
English

@jumpingguy7 @fartagaz Yes. Based on S1’s release, it would be announced at the end of August and released in October.
English

@fartagaz I saw something that said maybe in 2027 based on past releases, definitely just speculation though
English

@ArchiveFarAway @fartagaz Why wouldn’t they? They have for every film.
English

@fartagaz I’m honestly so stunned that they’re releasing physical media for this…
English

The artwork for this particular steelbook is absolutely gorgeous, but I'm more excited to once again have the opportunity to physically add another Star Wars movie to my personal collection.
Physical media will always be important, and I'm beyond thankful for every release we get. This is the way!

4K Ultra HD Steelbook cover for 'The Mandalorian and Grogu' Available August 25.
English

@TalkingBay94 It’s actually bigger than it looks. The steelbook is the part in the center, which is only 2/3 the height of the full box.
English

@sw_holocron And IMAX sequences will be full TV height!
