@BenRavenT1D Ah, the “honeymoon period.” I went through that—started running marathons and eating a vegan diet. But I learned you cannot “lifestyle” your way out of Type 1 (or 1.5 LADA) diabetes. I hate to tell her, but her brother will be requiring insulin again in the near future. 😕

I don’t care about this stuff normally but seeing the replies of other people who seem to think you can live without insulin is extremely harmful to all diabetics. Fuck off work this shit.

One of the biggest brokest soundtracks you deal with when writing a book is, "Everyone already knows this." It's the fear that the whole world has already heard your ideas. I combat it with a good soundtrack: "If it's new to me, it's new to a lot of other people, too."

@JonAcuff Grandy is a legend.

Look who came for Christmas! It’s Grandy, Jenny’s 94-year-old grandfather. He told me I was his favorite relative, by a long shot, not even close, hard to even think of who is second. (His words not mine.) He also told me that they put you in jail if they catch you riding your bike with headphones on. Not sure if that one is true, but at 94 I plan to be telling some whoppers myself. He’s a Navy veteran (Seabees), an identical twin and a Pensacola legend. Every time I see him I ask if he’s meeting any new ladies at his old age home. (He’s a widower and part of the reason he likes me so much is that I’ve got a “fresh mouth” and ask questions like that.) Here’s how that conversation usually goes: Me: You meeting any ladies lately? Grandy: At my age, women only want three things, a purse, a hearse and a banana peel. Me: Meaning you slip on a banana peel and they get all your money? Grandy: Now you got it! Here’s to some new memories with Grandy this Christmas!
