🇺🇸 The American Culturist 🇺🇸
Today in American History: 1836 Remember Goliad! In the Texas Revolution, the barbaric Mexican Army carried out the Goliad Massacre, executing over 340–425 Texian prisoners of war on orders from General Santa Anna. The event, along with the Alamo, became a rallying cry (“Remember Goliad!”) for Texas independence.

Traces of Texas
Traces of Texas@TracesofTexas·
Traces of Texas reader Rena Rawlins saw a photo that I posted recently of the "One Riot, One Ranger" Texas ranger statue at Love Field in Dallas and sent in this nifty photo of her aunt Judy (Rena did not say which one she is) and another stewardess paying their respects at the statue in 1969. I think they might be Braniff stewardesses. The statue stood inside Dallas Love Field for decades (since 1961), but the City of Dallas removed it in June 2020 amid concerns tied to the Texas Rangers’ historical record, particularly after renewed attention from Doug Swanson’s book "Cult of Glory." However, the statue has been reinstalled at Globe Life Field in Arlington, home of the Texas Rangers baseball team. Thank you, Rena. What a wonderful shot.

Texas Nationalist Movement (TEXIT)
On this day in 1836, 342 Texian prisoners of war were marched out of Presidio La Bahía at Goliad and massacred on the orders of Santa Anna. They had surrendered under terms of honorable treatment. The Mexican government executed them anyway. Texas never forgot. Neither should you. Remember Goliad. Never surrender.
