This happened three months ago in November.
1. As a tourist, she did not research local menus and cultural conventions, resulting in assumptions based on home standards, such as the differences between McDonald's in India and Malaysia. So, whose fault is that? It was entirely her own fault.
2. She then said, "I'm from India". As if all Indians are vegetarians, ignoring the country's varied dietary habits across regions and communities. Does she truly believe that being a pure vegetarian is an Indian national identity?
3. She is also a casteist because she confused vegetarian for 'pure vegetarian'. The word "pure vegetarian" has casteist connotations of ritual purity, particularly associated with upper-caste Hindu or Jain practices, separating it from conventional vegetarianism.
4. Finally, her public meltdown, such as crying and shouting over an incident that is 'purely' (like pure vegetarian), her.
We can understand her shock. However, her reaction is similar to "Dharm Bhrasht hona," which is incredibly casteist and regressive.

But the problem lies in the song and its lyrics. It’s so so basic, low effort, it seems like all the seemingly cool Telugu words he knew he put together.

I do use Zomato and Swiggy services occasionally. But I find this really dark.

2. If they have stable incomes and education, why should they choose to work 12 hours a day to earn 400-600 rupees, delivering food for other people where there is no room for professional/career growth? Has any gig worker in Zomato ever become an executive or manager in due course? (educate me if I am ignorant here).
3. How does serving more chicken biriyanis and paneer butter masala help transform our country at scale?

Zomato and Blinkit delivered at a record pace yesterday, unaffected by calls for strikes that many of us heard over the past few days. Support from local law enforcement helped keep the small number of miscreants in check, enabling 4.5 lakh+ delivery partners across both platforms to deliver more than 75 lakh orders (all-time high) to over 63 lakh customers during the day. This happened without any additional incentives for delivery partners - NYE does see higher incentives than usual days and yesterday was no different than the past NYE days. I am grateful to local authorities across the country and to our teams on the ground for clear enforcement and swift coordination. Most importantly, thank you to our delivery partners who showed up despite intimidation, stood their ground, and chose honest work and progress. One thought for everyone: if a system were fundamentally unfair, it would not consistently attract and retain so many people who choose to work within it. Please don’t get swept up by narratives pushed by vested interests. The gig economy is one of India’s largest organised job creation engines, and its real impact will compound over time, when delivery partners’ children, supported by stable incomes and education, enter the workforce and help transform our country at scale.
