This month's field visit to Tamil Nadu's Eastern Districts offered a ground-level look at our Trees for Tribals project. Three seasons in, Mahogany and Teak trees are reaching 3-4 metres in the region's red soil, with individually maintained water retention basins supporting growth. Local tribal communities manage day-to-day upkeep and monitoring across the site. More information here! 🌿

This Enhanced Vegetation Index satellite view of Karangwangi Village, Java, shows the transformation of a 1,154 ha lowland site where we planted 25,000 trees as part of our Community Reforestation in Java project. Karangwangi is home to around 6000 people — farmers and fishermen whose lives are intertwined with this land. This week, we are featuring one of Australia's most iconic natives, the Flame Tree. 🌳 Its red blossoms are one of nature's most breathtaking displays, appearing irregularly and making each flowering a truly rare and special event. In this conversation, our field officer Jacob Chagi shares how tree planting is creating positive change through the Forest Gardens – Mount Elgon Region project in Uganda. 🇺🇬 The project introduces a Forest Garden agroforestry approach, where diverse tree species are integrated with crops to restore soil health, strengthen food systems, and create more resilient farms. Today, more than 700 farmers are using this approach to rebuild their landscapes while improving their livelihoods. Each tree planted contributes to long-term environmental restoration, with an estimated 50 kg of CO₂ captured per species, supporting verified climate impact alongside community benefits.
