@PalmerLuckey @DanielleFong @CliffordAsness Kind of like Coorstek. People think of them as the beer people. But they’ve been crushing advanced ceramics for decades. And the next decade looks even brighter for them.

@CliffordAsness Dumb tweet. Toto has been fabricating advanced ceramics for semiconductor manufacturing for many years, they make more money from that than toilets. Strong technical moat in a rapidly growing industry.

A) I guess investors are just tired of the same old shit… B) Saw the exact same idiocy in the dot com bubble (great paper pictured below). Not sure if changing your name to .com or AI empowered bidets are dumber. Call it a tie.

@rossiadam Mostly southern schools? Not sure I understand that comment. Is southern under the Canada border?

Top metallurgy schools in the USA. What do you notice about the list? Mostly southern. State schools. Perhaps not high on the prestige list, but graduating real students that get placed directly into jobs due to the hands on education and tight relationships with industry. •Colorado School of Mines •University of Arizona •Missouri University of Science and Technology •University of Tennessee •South Dakota School of Mines and Technology •University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) •Montana Technological University

You cannot buy a new gas turbine until 2030. Order books at GE, Siemens, and Mitsubishi stretch to 2029. Turbine prices have nearly tripled since 2019. Every AI data center needs power and every gas plant needs a turbine. And every turbine has one part that bottlenecks the entire industry: The blade. It has to survive in gas 500°C above the melting point of the metal it's made from and spin at up to 20,000 RPM under 10,000 g of centrifugal force. Each blade is grown as a single crystal of nickel superalloy, pulled through a vacuum furnace at 3 mm per minute. A set of blades costs $600,000 and takes 90 weeks to grow. The same metallurgy powers modern jet engines. Only 3 companies on Earth can build one. China spent $42 billion trying to catch up. They bought a Russian fighter engine, took it apart, and copied every part. Their copy ran 30 hours between overhauls versus 400 for the original. Modern Western engines run 4,000. You can reverse engineer the shape of a turbine blade. You cannot reverse engineer 60 years of metallurgy.

@Gaurab Explain “takes 90 weeks to grow to me”. Our customer who does more single crystal castings of SC 180 & CMSX-4 than anyone on the planet turns blades in 2 weeks. Are you saying doing the blades consecutively for a full turbine takes 90 weeks?

@TrentLAllen Dang, that’s rough. I always thought the infiltration post-processing for the Z-Corp printers was a little too extensive, but I never saw a suitable alternative either!

I'm a little confused by what's happening with Raiola. Brendan Sorsby and Sam Leavitt and Minchey all of these other QB's are having these very public, high visibility recruitments and public bidding wars for their commitments. Maybe I'm missing it, but I haven't seen anything from Raiola? Has he visited anywhere?

Started 2025 by booking a one-way ticket to SF, not sure what I was going to do. > Got invited to a @fdotinc week long sprint in Jan > was working on a kitchen appliance > needed cast parts for prototype kitchen appliance (literally impossible) > recalled my experience at Siemens energy, castings lead to 1MM+ delays and LDs > pivoted to a better quest > Invited back to F Inc, > built and launched the first instant quote tool for casting > founders inc backed me ❤️ > quit my full-time job > moved into a 400 sq ft garage space in March > made my first castings > iterated, relentlessly > raised a few more angel checks > got better at casting > got faster at casting > built custom hardware for casting > continued to build industry-first software > passed $1M+ in quoted volume > raised a venture round > shipped tons of parts > made my first hire > traveled to Boston, New York, Austin, Reno, Salt Lake City, LA & Atlanta (20k miles of travel) > met a ton of amazing founders > passed 2M+ in quoted volume > decided to relocate the business to Austin > LOI in on first factory space (moving soon!) > passed 3M+ in quoted volume 2025 was a fantastic year, these are just the things i can share now, I can't wait for 2026 and the exciting things to share soon!

Warren Buffett retires today, most likely in his mind at the closing bell, just minutes from now. Congratulations to the greatest investor the world will ever know. The returns speak for themselves - Berkshire earned 6,118,651% or 19.9% annually over his 60 years running the company. The S&P 500 returned 46,491%, or 10.4%. Berkshire’s shares could decline by 99.2% and still have outperformed the market. The record is even greater when including the partnerships he ran through 1969. However, it is not the returns but the way Warren did it that matters most; with integrity and morality - and with humility and humor. He didn’t have to teach, but he did. On behalf of so many of us, thank you, sir.

It was a good year for @Tethon3D. We increased our revenue 170% YoY and added extra capabilities to our portfolio. Looking forward to 2026 where we are hoping for another triple digit growth year led by expansion of investment casting resins & dental appliances. 🇺🇸
