Crazy assumption that not conceding to you is being scummed out of top 16

Decided to play in a cEDH event. I don’t have a deck. Borrowed Kinnan. Not really sure what I’m doing. I copy Rhystic Study because that’s all I hear about on twitter. Have two copies of Rhystic Study. I’ve drawn a million cards because nobody pays the 1. Decide to go for Kinnan Basalt Monolith for infinite mana. Players try to stop me. Some talk happens, not really sure what they’re saying. They want to draw because they can stop me but they lose if they do. I decline the draw because I have a million cards in my hand. This format has a lot of free counterspells. I win. Interesting.

I know the answer, but I have to ask. Is it wrong to have this in a bracket 2 deck?

@claudiohmtg @JohnRuml Why are you unable to interact with the copies that go on the stack? This card is terrible and will see 0 play.

@NamelessMTG What do we ever care about using this on in Rog ishai? Fluster and maybe firestorm? I don’t think it’s good enough for that deck. Seems good in Rog si tho.

@antikhaoz @BrianDeMars1 Restarts and clocks are not a solution lmao. Slow play has nothing to do with trying to resolve a game in 100 minutes when all 4 players have their decks in their hands and infinite mana. You’ve clearly got no experience in a complex game state like that.

@BrianDeMars1 It's very entitled to ask for the ban of a card when it's a problem only in USA because they refuse to take a look and not ever consider trying solutions that worked in other regions. Rhystic is not a problem on CEDH as a while, only in USA. Slowplay is the problem

I’ll be so bummed out if they ban Rhystic because whiny CedH players get draws because they feel entitled to discuss & angle shoot every trigger. Slow play, not Rhystic, causes draws. 🤷

Anyone that thinks this deck randomly is a top 3 deck is wrong. It’s not THAT good. If you are thinking about building it, go play it in a tournament and you will get bodied. This deck will have a worst conversion rate then T&T

@LemorasCards The deck is genuinely bad. It doesn’t do anything better than what it’s trying to replicate.

The Rog/Ishai meta gonna convince anyone who didn't think Rhystic should be banned real quick. The slop up to this point was quaint in comparison

I didn’t realize people actually thought this card was medium? I’m here to say this is truly an S Teir card and if your commander deck has blue/black then there is a 90% chance you have to be playing it. For several reasons

@LemorasCards @bailey_abner_ This is such a retarded take. We need larger cuts on bigger events not smaller cuts. On a 200+ person event cut to top 40 is a much better player experience.

@bailey_abner_ I think a very restrictive top cut like cut to top 4 would at least be better if not perfect. Top 16 is practically rng anyways when its filled with 8 and 9 pointers. Almost the entire venue was on their win and in. A meta of win round 1 and force draws is not ideal.

The only round at the mid season invitational that didn’t have at least a 50% draw rate was the final round, in which players HAD to win to secure a spot (that being said, you could pretty easily get in with a single win and all draws). I seriously think the format would be better off with 0 point draws, or a maximum of 1-2 points from draws during Swiss or something similar. The format is not going to be taken seriously when you can get top cut with a 20% win-rate and only have to play one game of magic well.

@HigherMTG Other players may have been forced to play cards that are “suboptimal” due to rules of the tournament. Choosing to ignore that to play a card that may be better gives you an advantage even if minimal

Regardless of your viewpoint on proxies and whether they should be allowed or not. Entering a tournament that has a limit and going over the limit (even if only 1 card) is cheating and puts you at an advantage over the other players.
Max@ThePfef

Super disappointed to see what happened at the Mulligans tournament yesterday. They DQ'ed a player going into top4 because he had 11 proxies vs the 10 limit. Player offered to buy a replacement card on the spot. They booted him anyway and made finals a 3 pod.

Fun fact- you can and many times SHOULD decline to draw when your opponent targets you with Tataru Taru ETB! Baffles me how fast people accept the “free” card without thinking.

@TheVilageIdiot3 tymna forces the deck to get super stretched out in how it plays. tevesh plays towards a specific gameplan. turn one tevesh is insanely cracked creating bodies for cradle/earthcraft/vitality or by drawing cards in a pinch if needed. i promise he is better than he reads.

Simon Cowell says he’s ‘aging backwards’ thanks to a blood-rinsing procedure that rinses and filters his blood before sending it back into his body. The procedure draws blood, spins it to separate and remove certain elements, and then returns it to the body. “I go to this place, this wellness clinic, where they actually take your blood, they rinse it, they filter it, and then they put it back into your body.”
