This is very worth reading because it beautifully lays out the faulty thinking that has given us suicidal economic policy that has also made no impact on climate change whatsoever. Characteristically, it pretends that those who oppose Net Zero do so because they deny that the climate is changing (no one sensible does), that outsourcing our emissions to poor countries, an accounting trick, is somehow green (it's not) and, most importantly, challenges the argument that the overwhelming majority of carbon emissions produced in the world today are emitted by countries that care about economic growth way more than they care about "saving the planet" (China, India etc) by citing Kenya whose entire annual emissions are roughly equivalent to what China emits in about 8 hours. The hoax is not climate change. The hoax is that we can stop it by making ourselves poorer.
Tim Stanley@timothy_stanley

Column: "climate change is real and the Right needs to get serious about it," It's killing everything we claim to love - landscape, tradition, millions of poor chickens - so why do some conservatives still call it a hoax?! telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/07/2…

The Dutch government is running TV ads asking citizens to limit their electricity usage between 4pm and 9pm because the grid might collapse. This is what happens when ideology replaces engineering. The Netherlands tore down its stable, gas-based system and replaced it with intermittent wind and solar that surge and fade with the weather. They provide no inertia, no stored energy and no steady baseline. And modern grids can't cope. Lines are overloaded. Companies can't connect. Homes and EV charges are being turned away. And operators are even shutting down wind farms to avoid surging blackouts. The cost to the Dutch economy is estimated to be 35 billion euros a year. And growing. The promise was clean, abundant power. The reality? One of Europe's richest nations is now effectively rationing electricity.

🇬🇧✍️ 1.3 million signatures. Most of these people could not vote. But they could sign. 🇬🇧 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿✍️ Britain, 1833. The trade in human beings was already outlawed, but slavery itself was not. Hundreds of thousands remained enslaved across the Caribbean colonies. Parliament had debated it for years and done little. So it was not Parliament that moved first. It was the country. 🖋️ In factory towns, mill workers queued on their one free hour. In rural villages, labourers signed after church, some marking an X because they had never been taught to write their name. In Scottish highland settlements and Welsh valleys, whole communities added their names. People signed in public houses, in assembly rooms, at market stalls. Nobody was paid to sign. Nobody was made to. Most of them had no property, and so no vote. Women had no vote at all. They queued anyway, and put their name to it. 👩 Women organised a petition entirely their own. Over 187,000 women signed the women's national petition, a separate document carried alongside the general one. 📜 Town by town, the count climbed. In the end, the total stood at 1.3 million signatures, carried to London by road, river and rail, and piled at the doors of Parliament higher than a man. Members of the Commons had never seen anything like it. Politicians had not led this. They had followed it. ⚖️ Within months, Parliament passed the Slavery Abolition Act. It promised freedom throughout the British Empire, and more than 800,000 enslaved people began to be freed. But freedom did not come all at once: the law bound most of them to years more unpaid labour first, a period it called apprenticeship. Full freedom for most did not arrive until 1838. Back in Britain, nobody who signed had done it for reward. Most of them would never sit in Parliament themselves. They had no ballot to cast, only a name to give. And the name they gave was enough to move the law of the land. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 1.3 million people signed a law they had no vote to make. You come from people like them. Stand a little taller. We are the home of British heroes. There is a place for you in it. 👇🙏 👉 proudofus.co.uk 👈 Be part of us. ☝️🇬🇧 Be Proud Of Us. 🙏🇬🇧

@lucyjaynewhite1 Unfortunately many people seeing the state of the country and the rapid changes afoot don't want to bring children into this world. But that is of course part of the problem.

We cannot talk about the declining birth rate in the West without addressing one of the main causes, which is mass immigration. How can parents keep their children safe when our countries are no longer safe? Our countries have become unrecognisable & extremely dangerous👇🏻

Champagne Communism at its most devious finest. The 5 stores will be wildly popular, obviously, and many more will soon open. None can fail, despite operating at a loss, because they are supported by NY tax-payers employed in industries which DO operate at a profit. But.... imagine if Mamdani's Communist grocery stores were not bailed out by the productive class. The producers of the eggs, milk, chickens and everyday essentials would go out of business because their invoices for goods supplied to the stores would never be paid. This is why, in real Communist societies, everyone is poor (except the political class) and unable to find anything to eat in the bare-shelved Communist grocery stores.
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

At our five-borough municipal grocery stores, New Yorkers will get a 30% discount on eggs, milk, chicken, fresh produce and other everyday essentials. In the wealthiest city in the richest country in the world, no one should have to wonder how they’ll afford the food they need to feed themselves or their families.

Arsonists starting wildfires should be jailed for life and people in authority preventing fire prevention due to Green dogma should be removed from office. But politicians would prefer to use the current situation to push their Green agenda. Say no more.

Darren Grimes on the Berlin Pride attack and Labour MP Kate Osborne blaming Nigel Farage and Reform UK for it. Incredible. She is a lesbian herself yet still launches this attack instead of calling out Islamic terrorism for what it is. And she does it so soon after Ann Widdecombe’s murder. Disgraceful. @darrengrimes @tvkev @talktv Thoughts? 🇬🇧

Sadiq Khan will be our highest earning politician. He can claim the £390-a-day tax-free House of Lords allowance on top of his £170k London Mayor salary. This is the surest sign that our political system is absolutely broken. What has Khan achieved to earn this kind of money??
