@The_Alex_64 @ScottApogee At one point that was proposed for Duke Nukem Forever as well but George Broussard had a weird view and attachment to Duke so that was axed.

@ScottApogee I'd love to see a new game that treats Duke like a relic from another era. The world has moved on. But when the world is under threat, he's the only one with the balls to get shit done. Whatever it takes. Like a Duke Nukem version of the movie Demolition Man.

Duke could absolutely be relevant today, but not the Duke we saw in Duke Nukem Forever, which was an alt-universe silly version of Duke that was not like the version of Duke we established in Duke Nukem 3D. I strongly fear that any revival of Duke will miss the mark in the same way DNF missed the mark, because getting Duke right is actually really difficult. It's far too easy to make him a petty potty humor idiot, a babe brained bore, or a dated macho male moron. Duke only works teetering a super fine line: He's never humorous on purpose. He's not stupid--he's actually quite brilliant. Duke is raw bravery and he'll do what's needed at any personal cost, and that's still needed in today's world. DNF lines like "I'd still hit it" do not belong in a Duke Nukem game. And I'm afraid if a new Duke game is made this is exactly the type of Duke we'll get--a cornball, low-brow, idiot version that gets more groans than laughs, and doesn't come close to capturing the magic of Duke 3D. I'm not sure what current game studio could pull off a new Duke Nukem game properly. Take-Two now owns the IP, so I expect they're giving this some thought. And I wish them luck because it will not be easy assuming they even try!

Though he was once a leading gaming mascot, one ridiculously macho protagonist has struggled to maintain relevance in the modern age. gamerant.com/duke-nukem-ret…

He calls Maduro a dictator while serving the only regime on earth that dictates to every nation what they can buy, sell, eat, or who they can trade with
Sen. Bernie Sanders@SenSanders

Maduro was a dictator. But let's not pretend Trump cares about democracy. He cozies up to dictators all over the world when it suits him. Trump has been clear: he wants Venezuela’s oil. That’s not democracy. That’s imperialism.

Donald Trump’s bombing of Venezuela and abduction of President Maduro is part of a larger imperialist plan to impose US hegemony in Latin America, control the region’s natural resources, and make a new supply chain to cut out China. This article explains: geopoliticaleconomy.com/2026/01/05/don…

The US attack on Venezuela is part of a larger US imperialist assault on all of Latin America. This is the US empire's plan. It was spelled out clearly in the Trump administration's 2025 National Security Strategy. The US seeks to forcibly impose its hegemony in the entire western hemisphere, reviving the colonial Monroe Doctrine (now known as the "Donroe Doctrine"). The plan is for US corporations to control all of the region's strategic natural resources, including critical minerals and rare earth elements. The US wants to create a new supply chain in the western hemisphere that cuts out China, to prepare for future conflict with Beijing. Trump administration officials recognize that manufacturing jobs are not actually coming back to the US, so they admit in the National Security Strategy that they want to "near-shore manufacturing" to Latin America. US corporations hope to exploit low-paid Latin American workers to make their products, cutting out China. This is also why a new US-dominated supply chain in the western hemisphere is needed: not only because the US military-industrial complex needs to remove China from the supply chain for the weapons that it is making to prepare for a potential future war with China; but also because Washington wants to economically decouple from China, and thinks Latin America can help it do that. Moreover, the US empire seeks to control all of the strategic infrastructure in the region. So the Trump administration is going to brazenly threaten Latin American countries to force China to sell any investments it has in infrastructure projects. Trump already forced Panama to pressure the Hong Kong company that owned ports surrounding the Panama Canal to sell them to Wall Street giant BlackRock. It is likely that the US will also target Peru's Port of Chancay, one of the most important ports in the region, which was built by China. Washington could even blackmail Latin American governments to force them to impose restrictions on Chinese investment in the region. The National Security Council shows how the Trump administration is obsessed with trying to force the countries of Latin America to cut off their ties with China. This is Cold War Two. In his first trip abroad as secretary of state, Marco Rubio went to Panama, where he forced the country to withdraw from China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The Trump administration is going to massively increase its pressure on other countries in the region to withdraw from the BRI. Likewise, Trump blatantly meddled in Honduras' election in 2025 and backed an electoral coup d'etat. Honduras' new right-wing US puppet regime will likely formally break diplomatic ties with the People's Republic of China. The US also wants to use Honduras as a base of operations for attacks on the Sandinista government in neighboring Nicaragua. After bombing and occupying Venezuela, Trump and Marco Rubio want to carry out similar imperialist regime-change wars on Nicaragua and Cuba. Rubio has dedicated his entire career to overthrowing their socialist revolutions. It is a political crusade for him. The Trump administration's goal is simple: to impose right-wing US puppet regimes in every country in Latin America, which will obediently serve the interests of Washington and Wall Street, and sell off their assets to US investors. Two important elections are coming up in 2026 in countries with left-wing governments: Brazil (in October) and Colombia (in May). It is guaranteed that the Trump administration is going to meddle in those elections to try to put in power obedient right-wing US puppets (like Javier Milei in Argentina). Trump is also threatening to bomb Mexico, which has a very popular left-wing, independent government. Mexico has strongly opposed these US threats, saying they would be an attack on Mexico's sovereignty. But the US empire doesn't care a bit about sovereignty. The superficial, puerile rhetoric about "democracy" that we hear from Western officials and pundits is ridiculous. It is impossible for the countries of Latin America (and the Global South as a whole) to practice democracy when the world's most powerful and deadliest empire is constantly interfering in their elections, attacking them, imposing sanctions on them, and sponsoring coups. True democracy is impossible while imperialism exists.

They don’t just want Venezuela’s oil. They want the lesson. They want every country watching to understand the rule: If you nationalize. If you choose your own partners. If you refuse the IMF leash. If you keep your resources for your people. You will be punished until you submit. That is not foreign policy. That is organized intimidation.

🚨🇲🇽🇻🇪 MEXICO — The Government of Mexico condemns and strongly rejects the military actions carried out unilaterally in the last few hours by the armed forces of the United States of America against targets in the territory of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in clear violation of Article 2 of the Charter of the United Nations (UN). Based on its foreign policy principles and its pacifist vocation, Mexico makes an urgent call to respect international law, as well as the principles and purposes of the UN Charter, and to cease any act of aggression against the Venezuelan government and people. Latin America and the Caribbean is a zone of peace, built on the basis of mutual respect, the peaceful resolution of disputes and the proscription of the use and threat of force, so any military action puts regional stability at serious risk. Mexico emphatically reiterates that dialogue and negotiation are the only legitimate and effective ways to resolve existing differences, so it reaffirms its willingness to support any effort to facilitate dialogue, mediation or accompaniment that contributes to preserving regional peace and avoiding confrontation. It also urges the United Nations to act immediately to contribute to the de-escalation of tensions, facilitate dialogue and create conditions that allow a peaceful, sustainable solution in accordance with international law.

🚨 BREAKING: The US government is bombing Venezuela. Trump ordered military strikes inside the country. The US is waging a colonial war of aggression. Below is a translation of an official statement by the Venezuelan government, denouncing the US attacks (emphasis added): COMMUNIQUÉ BOLIVARIAN REPUBLIC OF VENEZUELA The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects, repudiates, and denounces before the international community the extremely grave military aggression perpetrated by the current Government of the United States of America against Venezuela's territory and population in civilian and military sites of the city of Caracas, capital of the Republic, and the states of Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira. This act constitutes a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter, especially its articles 1 and 2, which enshrine respect for sovereignty, the juridical equality of States and the prohibition of the use of force. Such aggression threatens international peace and stability, specifically in Latin America and the Caribbean, and places the lives of millions of people at grave risk. The objective of this attack is none other than to take control of Venezuela's strategic resources, particularly its oil and minerals, attempting to forcibly break the Nation's political independence. They will not succeed. After more than 200 years of independence, the people and their legitimate Government stand firm in defense of sovereignty and the inalienable right to decide their destiny. The attempt to impose a colonial war to destroy the republican form of government and force a "regime change", in alliance with the fascist oligarchy, will fail like all previous attempts. Since 1811, Venezuela has confronted and defeated empires. When in 1902 foreign powers bombarded our coasts, President Cipriano Castro proclaimed: "The insolent foot of the foreigner has profaned the sacred soil of the Homeland". Today, with the moral authority of Bolívar, Miranda, and our liberators, the Venezuelan people rise once again to defend their independence against imperial aggression. People to the streets The Bolivarian Government calls on all social and political forces of the country to activate mobilization plans and repudiate this imperialist attack. The people of Venezuela and their National Bolivarian Armed Forces, in perfect popular-military-police fusion, are deployed to guarantee sovereignty and peace. Simultaneously, Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy will file corresponding complaints before the UN Security Council, the Secretary General of said organization, CELAC, and the Non-Aligned Movement, demanding condemnation of and accountability for the US Government. President Nicolás Maduro has ordered all national defense plans to be implemented at the appropriate time and circumstances, in strict adherence to the provisions of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Organic Law on States of Exception, and the Organic Law of National Security. In this regard, President Nicolás Maduro has signed and ordered the implementation of the Decree declaring a state of External Commotion throughout the national territory, to protect the rights of the population, the full functioning of republican institutions, and to immediately transition to armed struggle. The entire country must be activated to defeat this imperialist aggression. Likewise, he has ordered the immediate deployment of the Command for the Integral Defense of the Nation and the Directional Bodies for Integral Defense in all states and municipalities of the country. In strict adherence to article 51 of the United Nations Charter, Venezuela reserves the right to exercise legitimate defense to protect its people, its territory, and its independence. We call on the peoples and governments of Latin America, the Caribbean, and the world to mobilize in active solidarity against this imperial aggression. As Supreme Commander Hugo Chávez Frías stated, "In the face of any circumstance of new difficulties, whatever their magnitude, the response of all patriots... is unity, struggle, battle, and victory".

This is absolutely insane Nazi propaganda, posted by the US government. It makes it clear that the Trump admin's mass deportation drive is not actually about "illegal immigration". There are estimated to be 14 million undocumented immigrants in the US. But the fascist DHS wants to deport 100 million people. This is a call by the US regime for ethnic cleansing of racial minorities, to create a white-supremacist regime without anyone with "third world" heritage. There are around 68 million Latinos in the US. This means the Nazis at DHS are not so subtly hinting that they want to deport every single Latino US citizen, plus tens of millions more racial minorities. The genocidal US empire truly is the Fourth Reich. What the US empire is doing to Palestinians is what it eventually wants to do to its own non-white citizens.
