This style is called Alta, a traditional Indian practice with ancient historical roots.🙏🙏🙏 >In Sanskrit, this tradition is called Laksha Rasa and which is used in rituals and Solah Shringar, symbolising auspiciousness (Shubh). In different parts of India, this tradition exists with different names. >In West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, it is called Alta. >In Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, it is called Mahavar. >In Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, it is called Parani. >And it is also practiced in the western part of India. Mehendi is entirely different in origin and usage. Renaming traditions does not change their roots or history. Some people need to stop this audacity of claiming Hindu traditions as their own.
