@TrishaPatrickL

not sure why I am here, occasionally a nice brief exchange, a shared experience. Of an age where I don't care so name calling and insults earn you a block

@TrishaPatrickL @quantiflow @merry123459 $2600 isn't much more affordable for someone starting out. Neither is the $4500 car insurance for a driver under 25 or all the other expenses that have gone up for all of us....but they are at a starter salary, often on contracts/gigs. But hey, good for you!

You also don’t walk out of college or university expecting to buy a new 4 bedroom house, two cars, boats, skidoos, etc. The reason you struggle is because you aren’t willing to wait and make do like we did. Your entitlement is causing you to struggle.
Bitcoin Teddy@Bitcoin_Teddy

Older generations say “we all struggled in our 20s.” No, you didn’t. You didn’t pay $3200 for rent and $10 for eggs. You didn’t graduate into $50K student debt and $0 job security. Gen Z isn’t dramatic. They’re drowning.

@isaiah_bb My parents are boomers. They raised four kids and worked hard for years, facing two job losses and dealing with crazy mortgage rates while doing so. Eventually they paid off their house, but there was a lot of sacrifice to do so.

I think it would be a really great reality tv show to take a couple dozen boomers, ideally recently retired, and give them entry level white-collar jobs in high cost of living cities and basically just saying "Go try to live."

@TrishaPatrickL @MichelleH_K @merry123459 they lowered the rents for 13 months then they jack it up higher then the gov allows, it's a bait and hook tactic, plus $2300 for 556 sq feet? LOL, my master bedroom is that size with the ensuite and walk in closet. That's basically cage house living

We settled for a lot less back then. We didn’t buy homes until much later in our lives. On one income. We crammed larger families into smaller homes with one bathroom. We only owned one car and people didn’t make the wages they do now. Stop this entitled whining bullshit.

@TrishaPatrickL @merry123459 It is for a lot of working class people who, for whatever reason, didn't make it to college or university. I've no idea how getting in trades works -- apprenticeships?

@merry123459 Hard disagree. My kids don't expect any of that - they can't even find an apartment for < $3000/mo. This isn't the same world it was when I finished nursing school and could afford my own tiny place, a second hand car + paid off student loans on $14/hour starting wage.

That's not true, Vicki. That's not true at all. Their rents are prohibitively expensive, that alone is enough to knock them off their feet. If they get benefits at all, they're nothing like what I could have gotten through a record store (and it wasn't all that either). When I began working towards the end of the 80s, most manufacturing was gone. Most jobs were in the service industry, but they began to be displaced too. Same with technology. When Macdonalds is considered a career instead of a part time job for kids in high school, something is very wrong.

I wonder if people in Canada/USA know that washing machine, dishwasher & appliances, have lower electricity cost at night (weekdays from 7pm) and weekends generally? Just putting it out there 🫱🏿‍🫲🏾

Since you are promoting free viewing for the FIFA Soccer Games could you find some more money of our tax dollars to fund more Life Guards on our beaches. Stop starving our @ParkBoard. If you can find 1 million dollars for 1 night of Fireworks you can make sure the beaches have Life Guards especially since we will have so many tourists in Vancouver this summer. 👇
Mayor Ken Sim@KenSimCity

Today, I was excited to join @AnneKangBurnaby and announce free live match viewings at the new PNE Amphitheatre as a part of the FIFA Fan Festival Vancouver! There will be 2600 free tickets for each match available on a first-come, first-served basis. This is about more than just soccer, it’s about our city’s incredible energy and providing a fun, safe, and accessible FIFA World Cup experience for all! dailyhive.com/vancouver/vanc…

@luxemiaa Valid point__but a little empathy doesn’t hurt. You paid for the seat, so you’re right, but sometimes a small kind gesture can make the situation better for everyone.

This girl on TikTok said: If I buy a window seat on a plane and your child is sitting in my seat when I get there, please don’t expect me to “let them have it” cause they’re crying. Get your child out my seat. You should have purchased a window seat for them. You can never make me feel bad for feeling entitled to the seat I purchased.

I always get supplementary health insurance when leaving the country and I am a relatively healthy 55-year-old. I feel bad for this old gal, but Canadian taxpayers shouldn't be on the hook because she came to visit here at age 80 without insurance. ctvnews.ca/toronto/consum…

@CityNewsVAN Lime scooters taking up parking spots is the worst, but that said your headline is sensational as there was no guarantee that the handicapped spot would have been available. I know as I search for them.

Now I'm two months from the wedding, and my entire bridal party is "gently suggesting" I find something more "classic." My mother-in-law offered to buy me a "proper" dress from David's Bridal. But when I put this on, I see my grandmother's garden, her stories about village celebrations, the culture she left behind when she immigrated. Yes, it's not a traditional white gown. Yes, people might whisper. But isn't a wedding dress supposed to make you feel like the truest version of yourself? I'm torn between keeping peace and keeping this dress that makes my heart sing every time I look at those embroidered birds
