@thezhanly I think so! In my opinion, the second and third seasons get better than the first, but my main takeaway is that it was one of the shows that really delved into grief, which does not seem to happen often. Have to have some tolerance for abstract presentation, though?
English

@thezhanly I realized that the executive producer was a writer on The Leftovers, which makes so much sense
English

@thezhanly Oh, ha! Season 5 has aired. I don't want to pay for Paramount Plus so I will have to wait, I guess.
English

@thezhanly Oh, I was NOT a fan of those shorts. Did Season 4 start?

@thezhanly It looked not great? So I've never seen it. But this season is doing southeast Asian folklore or something?
English

@thezhanly Yes, it's very "meh" to me.
Also, Jean Smart Emmy!
English

@thezhanly No! I just saw that the show was out and put it on in the background. It just screams "network" and I have no idea how it's going to stretch out across an entire season.

Two of the many truth bombs in this incisive and compassionate @LAReviewofBooks chat about #TheChair with creator @ajwyman and roomie/critic @mervatim: TV authorship doesn't mean what we think it does, and TV shows aren't about what we think they are. lareviewofbooks.org/article/depart…
