Of course, F1 has rules against copying the whole car, but copying a few bits isn't against the rules because implementing a design is hard, even if it's a copy.

The most recent result of that is RedBull developing a Ferrari-type flip rear wing. Then you also remember Green Redbull and Pink Merc. In F1 you don't have a inherit right to a certain design.
