Phil here is 100% right. Apple’s Vision Pro is such a masterpiece in user interface. And again Apple accomplished it without a controller (remember the ‘stylus’ bit in Steve’s iPhone presentation?). So @tim_cook, I guess I speak for the entire Apple development community when I say: Steve would have been super proud of the AVP.
Phil Traut ᯅ@SpatiallyMe

One feature of Vision Pro that is vastly underrated is its magnificent and beautifully crafted software design, making visionOS truly one of a kind. As a UI designer, it’s incredibly satisfying to experience these designs up close while they remain stunningly sharp. It’s my kind of ASMR. On what would have been Steve’s 70th birthday, I can only imagine how much he would appreciate the care and attention we continue to give to human interface design today.

@iamnotleft @USMAN84kg I know. And I wouldn’t want to run into it. But this makes no one happy, I guess. Sean would much rather have a clean win as well. Maybe they should take the tennis route. Keep going in rounds until someone taps or goes down.

@Cemblem10 @USMAN84kg Well, can’t argue with that. The whole grappling thing is only interesting to watch for people who do one of those sports. The mainstream is only excited by the grappling finishes, not the techniques.

@Tropos_AR @USMAN84kg I’m not saying it ain’t skilled, takes an immense amount of skill to take someone’s back and 25 mins. Just think it’s very boring, just a personal opinion! That said, it also takes skill to find 100+ jabs to the face

Hey, I’m a fan of both. And Strickland did really well. But in my opinion, taking someone’s belt, should be done in a day that shows you’re clearly the better fighter. They should do away with the max amount of rounds and just keep going, like in Tennis. This is just not cool for the fans, no matter which side you’re on.

@smmujtaba1999 @Tropos_AR @USMAN84kg Why are you so pissed? 😂 When judges see Khamzat’s biggest weapon getting neutralised multiple times, they’re not going to favour him heavily in the scoring. He landed some big shots for sure, but Strickland’s jab was landing consistently all night.

@USMAN84kg ‘Significant strikes’ are different in my book. Every jab is an arm fully extended. It doesn’t do all that much. They should bring the points system of BJJ into MMA.

@afoxdesign I’m playing Geforce Now in a Vision Pro. They should bring back that game-option for 3D tv’s. Having a massive screen, and that being in stereoscopic 3D, would be mind-blowing (currently playing Crimson Desert, which is insane in a Vision Pro, even without the stereoscopic 3D)

Well, having been in this industry for 30 years, and having been involved in tons of research, I can tell you that that statement is completely wrong. About 45% of women play games in one form or another. And in the younger demographic (16 to 24), than number goes up to almost 90%. Again: if you know which games to pick, and if you stay away from the dopamine traps, games have a higher educational value than other mediums. Because they are interactive, you retain the knowledge a lot longer.

This is such a stupid take, but one that demonstrates the immaturity and atrophied brains of gamers. There are countless respectable hobbies. Play an instrument, take up jiu jitsu, go hunting, go to the gym, play a sport, learn to fish, go hiking, build a shed, fix a car, build something, make something, write something, read something, play something. Do something that makes you better, not worse. x.com/kevan_gogh/sta…

@chrismwojcik It’ll never be big money, because it is not exciting enough for broadcast towards non-practitioners. No broadcast means no ad revenue. And no big money, means no pro infrastructure. Don’t get me wrong. I’m a big fan. But the audience is not there.

5 of the biggest problems with modern Jiu-Jitsu: I started Jiu-Jitsu a little over 11 years ago. The sport has changed a lot in that time, in culture, technique, and as a competitive sport. One thing that has been a constant in Jiu-Jitsu is problems. Problems with culture, problems with the sport itself, and of course, problems with the way we train. Today, we're talking about the 5 biggest problems with modern Jiu-Jitsu. ----------- 1. There's still not very much money in the sport. At the pro level, you can make decent money for matches, tournaments, seminars, private lessons, sponsorships, and more. But everyone else has to scratch, claw, and grind just to get by. When your career is over, you either have to get a job or open a gym, because no one is "set for life" after they're done competing. ----------- 2. Sexual predators are rampant in the sport, even at the highest levels. This year alone, there have been a lot of sexual assault cases involving professional Jiu-Jitsu athletes and coaches. I don't think it's a new thing either. We're just finally seeing how common this is. It makes you wonder how many cases there are that have been swept under the rug. ----------- 3. Steroids are rampant. I know, I know, "every" major sport has steroid users. But if you get caught in the UFC, NFL, or MLB, you're punished. It's still illegal. In Jiu-Jitsu, it's almost encouraged. I don't really think that's good for both the next generation and our reputation as a sport and community. ----------- 4. A general lack of professionalism. I'll skip the horror stories and just say that we have shifty promoters, lazy athletes, and plenty of coaches who are checked out. Some people on all of these fronts are doing a great job with their careers, teams, and promotions, but it's not super common. The nice thing is, if you literally just act like you're kind of a professional, you'll go pretty far in our sport. ----------- 5. No one really watches Jiu-Jitsu. CJI 1 was the most viewed Jiu-Jitsu event of all time. In general, however, most people watch the highlights of matches and not the matches themselves. Jiu-Jitsu thrives in the short-form era because the clips can be stunning even if the actual match is boring. We're basically the baseball of combat sports. ----------- There are a lot of problems with Jiu-Jitsu today. Some of these problems have existed for years and will probably always be there in some capacity. But if we talk about the problems and work to implement solutions, we can make Jiu-Jitsu a better sport not just for athletes, but for everyone involved. That's why I wrote today's post.

From an educational point of view, videogames are the medium that conveys way more knowledge than books, tv or even school. Most games are based on one aspect of real life. And players learn that info quicker, and retain it longer. As a gamification expert, I can tell you there’s double blind studies that prove that. The thing is, as with any medium (books, podcasts, video…), you need to pick the right content. Candy Crush and the likes have no value. But an enormous amount of other games do. Musk, Friedman… tons of high performers are diehard gamers.

Literally just had this conversation with a friend yesterday. Sorry, but gaming is always going to be a juvenile, unmasculine, lame hobby/activity. All it says to me is that you have no problem wasting your life. Are you a teenager or a man?
Lizzie Marbach@LizzieMarbach

I know this is unpopular, but it will always be unattractive for a grown man to play video games. Some women might be understanding or pretend like they don’t care that you spend hours playing, but they do. It is extremely unattractive to women and will never not be. 🤷🏼‍♀️
