@VouchersHurtUs In what universe is getting $18,000 per child and still producing catastrophic outcomes being “rigged”. What would be rigged is trapping kids in a broken system assigned by ZIP Code.

The game is rigged against the public schools that educate the majority of Ohio’s kids. Ohio taxpayers keep getting told there’s “not enough money” for public schools while billions are diverted into the private and religious school voucher scam.

@VouchersHurtUs LOL, what an absurd statement. Middle class families are paying $17,000 or more if that wealthy kid attends a public school compared to $700 if they use an Edchoice scholarship. Stop the fear mongering.

Ohio’s voucher scheme forces working and middle-class families to subsidize private school tuition for wealthy Ohioans. Meanwhile, public schools that serve every child are being left behind.

Young people today don't hate rich people they are mad that... - they were talked into too much student debt - they can't buy homes - their wages are up 2x while houses up 9-10x - inflation is eating them up and they own no assets No wonder they don't like capitalism. They haven't been able to truly participate in it yet.

My opponent called Ohioans “lazy and mediocre” but I know that couldn’t be further from the truth, when: Childcare costs thousands of dollars a year, and parents are working harder than ever. Gas is at a historic high, and Ohioans are struggling to fill up their tanks. Our corrupt Statehouse underfunds public schools, and teachers are forced to do even more with less. As governor, I’ll fight to lower costs for every Ohioan.

@amyactonoh Stop the deception. The state is not underfunding schools. The public K-12 budget and per pupil spending is larger than at any time in history, even after inflation. You either know this and are lying or you don’t know it, which is crazy bc you are talking about it all the time.

@amyactonoh What an absurd red herring. She’s trying to draw a contrast that doesn’t exist. Nobody is doubting the ones of billionaires. But this is all she has because she hasn’t actually proposed a single policy idea

Voucher spending has ballooned to $2.4 billion statewide. Meanwhile, Ohio’s EdChoice voucher scheme diverted millions away from Akron Public Schools while APS still had to transport private school students and absorb major budget shortfalls. signalakron.org/what-is-ohio-e…

@Enquirer @AR_Shoemaker The claim that public schools are under funded is laughable. Overall enrollment continues to decline while state and local funding. Both continue to increase. Do journalists even bother looking at such data anymore?

@karr_pe Your schools are not being gutted. Enrollment in Cleveland municipal schools has dropped 54% in the last two decades. This 6% reduction in staff is simply the first move toward right sizing the staff.

I went to The City Club for the first time today. The president of our appointed school board and the school ceo were there to talk about how their plan to gut our schools is really for the benefit of the inner city students.

@vegasbucks @TheCrustyOldMan @DaveYostOH A grossly exaggerated number. But still, that money is still used to educate Ohio students. As opposed to the millions taken by VHO that pay for lobbyists and a PR firm to create social media memes.

@TheCrustyOldMan @DaveYostOH Ohio is projected to spend $2.5 BILLION from 2025 to 2027 on vouchers (privatization). That $1.25M is child’s play in comparison.

And those 300+ public schools are using your tax dollars to challenge the state law that gives you a choice in your child’s education. They will ultimately lose. When they come begging for more taxes, ask them why they spent the money you already gave them on losing lawsuits.

NOW: In Ohio's 10th District Court of Appeals, 300+ public schools are fighting to end the EdChoice private school voucher program. The state has asked judges to overturn the majority of a trial ruling, one that deemed the program unconstitutional. @WEWS @WCPO @OhioCapJournal

@DrCurtisO @MorganTrau You can rest easy. The Epstein class gets about $620 for their child on an Edchoice scholarship. But if they attended a public school, it would cost the public on average $18,000. EdChoice is saving you money.

@MorganTrau Is this part of the high property taxes we pay? Trying to subsidize private school “choice” for the Epstein class?

@KeithALake @MorganTrau 100% accurate. It was a shockingly inapproprate line of questioning. Boggs and Leland were vocal opponents of school choice in the general assembly. That is not their role any longer.

@MorganTrau They’re not lawmakers anymore. The answers to those questions are, “these are policy choices.” These are not questions for judges to decide. Aren’t they supposed to be focused on legal merits & constitutionality?
