@G0ffThew This is true for the most part, but it’s been most of the anime community that have a massive hate on for that stuff and they’re total dicks about it and towards people who do like that stuff. None of them deserve my grace.

@Pluengwyn I don’t know how old you are, but a side of the anime fandom has been criticizing ecchi, loli, and even moe for decades. It’s my experience that the newer fans with such objections tend to mellow on it as their tastes broaden and they see more of the medium.

You made a video about how there's no reason to ever pirate anime despite the entire western fanbase only existing because of piracy AND your video on that instantly getting copyright claimed for showing 5 seconds of an anime.
You never understood anime. You never really got it or why it's interesting. You only interact with it on a basic asthetic level and anything outside of your comfort zone is incorrect and needs to be removed.

@G0ffThew - Even when it comes to classic and generally well liked anime. But the amount of bullshit I get from people for saying anime like Girls Bravo or Queen’s Blade are actually good, it ridiculous. You don’t have to like those shows, but that doesn’t make them “bad”.

@G0ffThew I trust you on this, but what I’ve found frustrating about my time on forums and social media is that whether my political values align with the people that I’m talking to, when it comes to discussing anime - I find a majority of the time, my opinion’s not respected. -

@garylisk They don’t. They’re fundamentally incurious and pathologically dishonest. Anime isn’t art to be analyzed and appreciated to these people, it’s the ball in an internet bloodsport.

@G0ffThew The long and short of it is this - “normal” or arthouse type anime I tend to listen to people on. Modern isekai, ecchi, harem that sort of stuff; I don’t listen to anyone’s opinions on that because I’ve been burnt both ways. I could give examples, but you get the point.

@G0ffThew - while there’s a massive amount of anime I agree with you and your peers on, there’s a lot I disagree about. Take Goblin Slayer, while I think the first episode got a bit obnoxious with what it does, I don’t think it’s horrible. I’ve seen worse. -

@G0ffThew This is an example of a show that instantaneously shot to the top tier category of my anime favourites as soon as I finished it. I’m glad it got a blu ray release, now if only Pluto could get one.

@G0ffThew Is it the pinnacle of storytelling? No. Overall, it’s not even that great, there are plenty of animated films that have come out in the last 5 years that have more substance to them. But, I’m glad it exists and like I said, I had a lot of fun with that first movie.

@G0ffThew I haven’t seen the new movie but I’ll say this about the first movie - I really like its aesthetic and animation style that captures the spirit of the games (the ones I played). While the story is pretty basic I had a lot of fun with that movie. -

“Illumination’s the perfect studio for Mario” no sorry it’s actually Aardman. Make Mario a little plasticine weirdo who communicates exclusively in “wahoos” and “lets-a-gos,” base the world/story on TTYD w/ claymation gags instead of paper, and baby, you got an actual film going.

@G0ffThew My experience when it comes to this stuff (talking about old/new) is frustrating in general. Posts like this one yeah - but these clowns that have always gone around “modern anime sucks”. I’ve gotten to listen to that for over 20 years.

This is such a frustrating post because SamCham actually is pretty impressive for 2004, with how well it employs digital colouring, compositing and effects. But most of the actual art and layout techniques behind the animation itself were refined back in the 80s.

@Movies_analyst For me, this is like a Christopher Reeve playing Superman thing. I think other actors playing the character have done great (Henry Cavill, David Corenswet) but Reeves will always be the definitive Superman to me. I feel this way about the original cast of Harry Potter.
