The words “adder” and “apron” used to begin with /n/ (Old English nǣdre, Old French napperon), but after saying “a nadder” and “a napron” for a few centuries, people genuinely forgot that it wasn’t “an adder” and “an apron”; and the latter interpretations stuck. The opposite happened for “newt” and “nickname”, which were ewte and ekename respectively in Middle English. The same process occured: “an ekename” and “an ewte” convinced people that the words genuinely started with the /n/ sound.

Impossible under the current Overton window. Any system to promote high-quality content will be hijacked by libs who define "high-quality" as saying lib things. This goes across society. Until libs are so crushed and demoralized they no longer defect, we can't have nice things
Nate Silver@NateSilver538

It can't be *that* hard to create a version of Twitter/X that removes some of the groupthink but still promotes high-quality engagement and content. And is a portal to the rest of the internet rather than a closed ecosystem, always one of the good things about pre-Elon Twitter.

90% of people being nostalgic for the past via old photos and videos are people just missing when people dressed a just little better. And this is the 70s when many clothes were notably insane compared to prior decades. Clothes matter so much.

What's funny is if Pæscen (which is what they called it in Old English) had been the dominant term, it would have evolved into Pashen in Middle English, which would have probably been confused with Passion, and we'd just be calling the holiday that

Nothing in this world is more certain and inevitable than death. But this is no hinderance to our God, for Christ is risen! Thanks be to Jesus Christ that through faith in Him, we too shall rise--freed, healed, and redeemed from anything Satan or this world vainly threw at us.

@harukaawake when women see a woman who is prettier than them, they become, secretly, upset. When women see a woman who is less attractive than them, they are quietly pleased. this movie was made for women, the force is female, after all

White men are the foremost and often sole drivers of all notable human achievement. “Humanity” as it were stands on the shoulders of White men and “humanity” owes eternal gratitude to White men.
