We often ask, “Are COVID cases increasing?” But a more demanding question is, “Are they surging?” -- meaning how fast are they increasing? How fast is the pandemic subsiding or worsening? bit.ly/3jZEMlZ

Because of a reported decrease in COVID cases, Provincetown’s mask mandate has been degraded to an advisory recommending mask-wearing in all public indoor spaces except when eating/drinking. For Truro, reporting an uptick to 7 active cases, the mandate remains. #OuterCapeCOVID

As a response to #OuterCapeCOVID incidence, Truro’s Board of Health has amended its mask order to now include fines, but like Provincetown and Nantucket (other outbreak locales) has deferred action on reducing capacity of retail establishments indoors. bit.ly/37xkV6N

The Pentagon will start requiring service members to get the #COVID vaccine by mid-September through either a presidential waiver or approval from the FDA.

In Barnstable Cty only 66% of ages 20-29 have received at least one COVID vaccine dose. Some in that group may be unafraid of becoming COVID-infected. Paradoxically, fear of vaccine side effects can’t be their credible reason for vaccine hesitancy. bit.ly/3Ard86K

In an update to their guidance released July 27, 2021, the CDC now recommends fully vaccinated people to wear a mask in public indoor settings in areas of substantial or high transmission. In MA, Barnstable County is the only area of high transmission, as of July 29.
