Some ancient texts suggest that Jesus (Isa) *pbuh was not crucified but rather someone else was made to resemble him, a theory echoed in both Gnostic writings and Islamic tradition. The Second Treatise of the Great Seth, a Gnostic text from the Nag Hammadi Library (2nd-3rd century CE), presents Jesus as laughing at those who thought they had crucified him  “I did not die in reality, but in appearance… For my death which they think happened, happened to them in their error and blindness, since they nailed their man unto their death… It was another, their father, who drank the gall and the vinegar; it was not I. They struck me with the reed; it was another, Simon, who bore the cross on his shoulder.” Similarly, Irenaeus (2nd century Church Father) wrote about the Basilidian Gnostics, who believed that Simon of Cyrene, the man forced to carry Jesus’ cross, was actually the one crucified: “Simon, a certain man of Cyrene, was compelled to bear his cross for him; and it was he who, through error and ignorance, was crucified, being transfigured by him, so that it might be thought he was Jesus. Jesus, meanwhile, took the form of Simon and stood by, laughing at them.” (Against Heresies, Book 1, Chapter 24, Section 4) This belief finds strong resonance in the Qur’an (Surah 4:157-158), which explicitly states that Jesus (Isa) was neither killed nor crucified: “And [for] their saying, ‘Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah.’ And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but it was made to appear so to them… Rather, Allah raised him to Himself. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise.” Across multiple traditions—Gnostic, early Christian sects, and Islam—there exists a recurring theme of substitution, where Jesus was spared, and another took his place. Love him or hate him, Tupac was a poetic genius. His lyrics were beautiful and will out live any music today. Tupac music reaches everyone from any age, race, life experience etc. Some songs just touch you diff than others. JMO 💫
