This is going to be hard for the wrestling community to stomach… Wrestling heavyweight is not selecting from the same talent pool that football is. If every D1 & NFL‑caliber OL/DL/LB were funneled into wrestling instead of football, the heavyweight landscape would look completely different overnight. Wyatt Hendrickson might be an NCAA qualifier at best. While wrestling is the toughest, purest, most merit‑based and easily the most respected sport. It still is only crowning champions from the athletes who actually choose to participate. The biggest, strongest, most explosive 230-330 athletes in the country don’t wrestle. NEW: Hartford mayor fires officer who fatally shot man experiencing mental health crisis while holding knife On February 27, 2026, Hartford police responded to a mental health call on Blue Hills Avenue. Steven Jones, 55, was holding a large knife. Three officers spent over five minutes attempting to de-escalate as he walked into the street. Officer Joseph Magnano, the fourth officer on scene, approached with his gun drawn, warned Jones he would be shot, and fired nine times when Jones continued advancing with the knife. On March 27, 2026, Mayor Arunan Arulampalam terminated Magnano effective immediately, stating the officer’s actions were “deeply concerning” and did not meet professional standards. The Office of the Inspector General’s investigation remains ongoing. The Hartford police union has criticized the firing.
