A lot of people have asked us what options trading is and how it differs from perpetual futures (perps). The simplest way to understand it is this: Perpetual Futures (Perps) are contracts where you're obligated to maintain your position until you close it or get liquidated. Your profit and loss continuously changes with the market, and leverage can result in liquidation if the market moves against you. Options, on the other hand, give you the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell an asset at a predetermined price before a specific expiration date. As an option buyer, your maximum possible loss is limited to the premium you paid, while your potential upside depends on how the market moves. For example, if you believe a stock will rise, you can buy a Call Option. If the price increases above your strike price before expiration, your option gains value. If you expect the price to fall, you can buy a Put Option, which increases in value when the asset declines.
