My metabolism got slow after 30 is one of the most common things people say but that is not technically true Your metabolism does not suddenly crash in your 30s or 40s. A very large study looking at 6,000+ people aged 8 days to 95 years found something interesting - Babies burn energy at a very high rate for their size Childhood to the late teens gradually declines toward adult levels From about 20 to 60 years metabolic rate is remarkably stable After 60 a gradual decline starts So if someone is gaining weight in their 30s or 40s, the explanation is usually not that their metabolism suddenly broke. It is more often a lifestyle shift less movement, less exercise, more sitting, more stress, more convenience food more calories creeping in without noticing etc. PMID: 34385400

Muscle recovery is slower than most people think, and soreness is a poor proxy for readiness. After long-duration or high-intensity exercise, full muscle glycogen restoration is often not achieved for ~24 hours or longer, particularly when exercise is exhaustive, repeated, or muscle-damaging. That is why carbohydrate intake becomes especially important for athletes and highly active people: not just to fuel performance, but to restore the capacity to perform again. Muscle glycogen is the primary fuel for high-intensity exercise, repeated efforts, and endurance under fatigue. Replenishing is very important Here’s a detailed post on carbohydrate intake and glycogen replenishment

For those who don’t know me, I’m Tejas Kulkarni, founder of TSA TEKK @TsaTekk I’ve spent nearly a decade studying protein, nutrition, exercise science, biomechanics, and physiology academically, with a bachelor’s from Sheffield Hallam University and master’s from the University of Glasgow. I’m currently pursuing a PhD in Sports, Exercise and Nutrition Science, focused on blood markers for athlete workload and health. I started TSA TEKK to build what I wanted to see more of: tasty, convenient products with genuinely good nutritional value, backed by real science and a vision to innovate. Since January 2025, I’ve been building a startup and pursuing a PhD at the same time. Sometimes I speak slightly beyond my life and work experience. But I’ve learned that growth often happens at the intersection of reality and delusion. And one of the best things I’ve experienced is that If you work hard with the right intent, strangers on the internet will support you.

Why does the exercise feel harder or easier even though the weight doesnt really change, 5kg dumbbell still remains 5kg yet some parts of the range of motion of the exercise are harder than others Because resistance is not just about the weight. It is about torque.

Been using @TsaTekk ‘s Isolate Whey since a few weeks. Again made a high protein cake out of it today😋 The only reason to switch to this brand was because of how transparent they are, so I don’t mind spending extra. Switching from maxn, this is slightly less sweeter.

Forward lean in the squat is often completely fine. Not everyone is built to squat upright. For many lifters, some forward lean is normal anatomy, not a technique flaw. Everyone s optimal squat might look different. Why do some people squat more upright while others lean more forward? Because the body is trying to keep the combined center of mass + barbell balanced over the midfoot. Torso angle is one of the ways it solves that balance problem. Change the structure or the setup, and the torso angle changes too. People tend to squat more upright when they have: * Shorter femurs relative to torso * Better ankle dorsiflexion * A high-bar or front-squat style * Heeled lifting shoes * A narrower need for hip displacement backward * An intentional quad bias These factors make it easier for the knees to travel forward and for the torso to stay more vertical. A more upright trunk usually increases knee moment and shifts more demand toward the quadriceps. People tend to lean more forward when they have: * Longer femurs * Less ankle dorsiflexion * A low-bar squat * Flatter shoes * A more hip-dominant strategy * Knees intentionally restricted from travelling forward These factors usually push the hips farther back or reduce forward knee travel, so the torso has to incline more to keep the bar over the foot. More forward lean usually increases hip moment and shifts more demand toward the glutes, adductors, and spinal erectors while reducing knee moment.
