A Message from Lee Hooper – Thank You and Looking Ahead After Friday’s news, I wanted to say a few words. In the days leading up to the announcement, Sooty and I had some honest chats. We both felt that while co-managing had brought success, it wasn’t quite working in all areas. We also agreed that moving forward, the club would be better off with one manager and a clear coaching team. We’ve always got on really well and worked hard together. Reaching the play-off final was a massive achievement and something we’ll both be proud of. We talked about whether we could make it work, but with the way we were both feeling, it was clear that co-management had run its course. We took those thoughts to the board, and they had to make a tough call. I wish Sooty all the best going forward. He’s a top bloke and I’ve made a mate for life. The club is in a really strong place, thanks to the blood, sweat and tears that so many people have put in. We’ve not been able to push on with planning for next season until this and a few other things were sorted. Now we can get going again. It’s so important we build something that lasts, with a clear path not just for the first team but for the local community and young players coming through. I’ve spoken to all of the current players and some of the new lads we’ve been looking at. The response has been brilliant. There’s a real buzz and belief about what we can do next season. The support during the play-off run was unbelievable. That sea of claret and blue in the away end is something I’ll never forget. It’s given me even more fire to give the fans more moments like that. This is an exciting time for the club. We’re building something special, and we need all of you behind us. I’ll give everything I’ve got to make sure we’re ready for pre-season and ready to go again.
