And to cap off a great week of TEA events, we have another historic first: an International Teachers Committee! We encourage all international teachers in TUSD to attend, so if you know one, please share this invitation!

Rank and file members of TEA have done some data analysis, LOTS of conversations and petition signatures gathering related to how much non-mandated testing occurs in addition to the state mandated assessments. Come learn more about this campaign.

With just 61 days to go until the election, we're excited to share with you our initial recommendations for your ballot. There's so much at stake this election - please support public schools by voting for pro-education candidates at all levels! azeducatorsvote.org

Although we still have work to do on a number of issues, we're confident that this tentative agreement provides a foundation for us to keep organizing, building power and pushing for more positive change. There's never been a better time to join TEA!

The governing board is expected to approve the tentative agreement at the board meeting tomorrow (with the exception of the parental leave policy - we expect final board approval on that within the next few weeks).

Educators in Tucson have won a tentative agreement that includes 12 weeks of paid parental leave (!) along with raises for all, no increase to healthcare costs, and other wins. This is the result of months of negotiating, organizing and speaking out!

“We hear from this body that teachers aren’t trusted to pick out the library books or the curriculum that we are supposed to teach. And yet now we’re supposed to have loaded weapons in our classrooms. This is outrageous.” — Rep. @nancygforAZ voting no on #HB2705.

Yes, it’s been difficult. There is learning loss. There are social-emotional challenges. In some cases, there is sickness, economic hardship, or trauma. But students are extremely resilient. nea.org/advocating-for…
