The incident began around 3:11 PM when we responded to reports of a suicidal subject. The caller, Levi Simpson, told 911 dispatchers that he had "done something terrible" to his girlfriend's 6-year-old child and threatened self-harm if officers arrived. While officers worked to resolve the standoff at the apartment, other officers met with the victim and his mother at the Hospital. Medical staff and a SANE Nurse confirmed that the 6-year-old child suffered severe injuries, including physical signs consistent with strangulation. After some lengthy negotiations, Simpson was safely taken into custody. COYOTE ATTACK On 5/19/2026 at 2:30 p.m., Tulsa Police Officers and Tulsa Animal Services Officers were called to 13700 E. 46th for a coyote attack. A parent was picking his child up from Rosa Parks Elementary School when he was putting his child in the truck, the coyote came from under the truck and bit him. The parent went to the hospital and was treated for the injury, including the possibility of a rabies infection. Officers were able to track the coyote and ultimately found it near a pond at the QT headquarters. Based on the attack and the potential danger to others in the area, Officers had to put the animal down. Q&A: Do we get many reports of coyote attacks in the city? Nope Did the coyote have rabies? Don't know yet, it was collected and will be examined What to do if you see a coyote? They are mostly harmless to humans; it's best to avoid them and call Tulsa Animal Services Should you feed coyotes? Never. They may lose their innate timid instincts and become more comfortable around people Curious question: Have you seen a coyote in the city limits?

ROLLOVER CRASH - Driver dies after ejection from truck On May 16, 2026, around p.m., Tulsa Police Officers responded to a rollover crash near 22500 E. 31st Street. The passenger of the crashed truck flagged down first responders to direct them to the spot where the truck was upside down off the side of the roadway. The passenger said 62-year-old Robert Larson Jr. was exiting the Creek Turnpike on 31st and wasn’t able to navigate the eastbound turn. The truck started to spin and hit a tree, which disconnected the truck bed. Neither Larson nor the passenger was wearing a seat belt, and they were both ejected from the cab’s back window. The cab rolled onto Larson, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger sustained minor injuries. If the driver had been wearing a seat belt, this could have been a very different story. Please protect yourself behind the wheel; it could save your life.
