Big moment for Lagos and the APC. Congratulations to Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat on emerging as our party’s Consensus Governorship Candidate. Your years of loyalty, consistency, and service have rightfully earned this mandate. I remain committed to support the re-election of our Leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. This is a call to stay united, disciplined, and focused on our collective progress. Our commitment to the party remains unwavering, fully aligned with the leadership and vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Now, the focus is simple: to secure victory and advance a more prosperous Lagos and Nigeria.

Meanwhile, I activated the broadcast journalism in me to report this big achievement of my principal. This is because there were no reporters around as the visit was impromptu. And to be honest, I was very excited to do this because of this huge accomplishment by my boss for our people at Ajegunle. Tolu schools complex has 36 schools, 16 Junior, 15 Senior and 5 primary schools inside an 11.73 hectares of land, that’s bordered by the lagoon and housing over 20,000 students. I hope I’ve still got my reporting skill intact?

@TundeEednut No one forced them to do that, they did it on their own. By the way this is Africa, it shows that they’re well trained children. That’s who we are as a people in this part of the world.

…Fortunately, the Dangote Refinery has largely shielded Nigeria from the worst effects of the global supply crisis. By scaling up production at a critical time before the escalation of the conflict, the refinery has met Nigeria’s refined products requirements. Even in the face of more attractive export options, the Dangote Refinery committed to prioritising Nigeria’s energy security. This commitment has ensured full availability of petroleum products with zero queues, while other countries grapple with scarcity. While the price of petroleum products has had to go up, this is being managed to reduce the impact on Nigerians. For example, despite a 10% increase in crude oil prices over the last couple of days, the Refinery has cut petrol prices by 75 Naira per litre. This was done, even though the refinery is paying an additional premium of up to $18 per barrel for Nigerian crude oil cargoes. This is the benefit of local refining. The Dangote Refinery is transforming Nigeria into a more resilient and energy‑independent nation, providing all‑year‑round availability of petroleum products and enabling the country to withstand external shocks better. Petrol queues, even during festive seasons, have disappeared since the Refinery commenced PMS production in Oct 2024. What is perhaps not visible to many Nigerians is how this was achieved while simultaneously eliminating the huge demurrage bill that NNPC used to incur in maintaining safety stock on several floating vessels. Furthermore, the ongoing crisis has positioned Nigeria as a strategic and credible exporter to Africa – a role with long-term commercial and diplomatic significance as African governments seek more resilient and integrated energy supply arrangements. Since the conflict began, the Dangote Refinery has ramped up exports to Africa in a bid to help shore up supply across the continent. In March, the refinery exported close to 500,000 tons of refined products to various African countries, generating export earnings for Nigeria. This underlines the importance of local production and the need for Africa’s industrialisation as championed by the Dangote Group. Not only does local production create and sustain jobs for thousands of people, preserve foreign exchange, and stimulate other sectors of the economy, but more importantly, as we have seen, it insulates the country from global volatility, supply disruptions, and geopolitical risks that continue to batter import-dependent economies in times of stress. The Dangote Refinery is more than an industrial asset; it is the foundation of Nigeria’s energy sovereignty and a catalyst for sustainable economic growth. -Ajayi is the Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to President Tinub

If you are the man who paid for the food of three soldiers yesterday evening at the restaurant close to Tamando Navy Barracks, Apapa, this message is for you. We were three of us. After eating, we asked for the bill, which was ₦9,600, only for the waitress to tell us that someone had already paid for our food. She said you pointed at us and cleared the bill, then left before we could even see you or say thank you. To be honest, we were surprised and even a bit pained that we didn’t get the chance to appreciate you in person. We don’t know your reasons, we don’t know your story, but what you did meant a lot to us. So wherever you are, we want to say thank you. Thank you for appreciating us. Thank you for your kindness. Thank you for your support. May God bless you, may He continue to shine light on your path, and may you never lack help when you need it. From three grateful soldiers we appreciate you. 🫡🪖 May Nigeria forever be blessed 🇳🇬

Army arrests serving soldier over alleged fraud of N114million, false claims on ‘Osisikankwu’ operation By: Zagazola Makama The Nigerian Army has arrested a serving soldier, Staff Sgt. Amoke Simon, over alleged large-scale fraud amounting N114million and false claims relating to the killing of notorious kidnap kingpin, Obioma Nwankwo, popularly known as “Osisikankwu.” Military sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect, a member of the Nigerian Army Engineers Corps attached to a regiment in Lagos, was apprehended at the Port Harcourt International Airport while attempting flee to Abuja. He was arrested by joint troops of 14 Brigade and 6 Division Provost Groups following ongoing investigations into multiple allegations of fraud and impersonation. According to the sources, preliminary investigations revealed that the soldier allegedly defrauded the Abia State Government by falsely presenting himself as a key figure in the 2010 operation that led to the elimination of the notorious kingpin. The false narrative reportedly earned him official recognition and a promise of support from the Abia State Government, including medical assistance. Further findings indicated that the suspect had been on the radar of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged involvement in a series of fraudulent activities targeting individuals and Organization. “He allegedly defrauded a company of about N100 million, obtained N6 million from an individual under false pretences, and also duped a group of persons of about N8 million. He had been on the run before his arrest,” a source said. Investigators also disclosed that the soldier’s fraudulent activities intensified after he sustained injuries in a motorcycle accident while on an unauthorised movement in Lagos, which he allegedly used as a cover to solicit financial assistance from unsuspecting victims. Contrary to his claims, military records and testimonies from troops involved in the 2010 operation showed that the suspect neither participated in nor had any operational link to the mission that led to the neutralisation of “Osisikankwu.” One Officer who took part in the operation clarified that the suspect was never part of the team deployed for the mission. He said a senior officer, Brig.-Gen. Timothy Oparon, was the one who led the operation as a Major in 2010, under the command of then Brig.-Gen. Andrew Audu. “He led 26 soldiers into the forest in December 2010 to track and neutralise the kingpin and rescue several kidnapped victims. The individual making these claims was not part of our team and was never deployed to that theatre of operation,” he said. Another sources explained that the operation, conducted in the forests of Abia, resulted in the successful neutralisation of the gang leader and the rescue of about 10 kidnapped victims, with arms and ammunition also recovered. They described the soldier’s claims as false and misleading, noting that several officers and soldiers like us who participated in the mission had expressed concern over the misrepresentation. Military sources also further confirmed that the suspect had never been deployed to Maiduguri or any theatre in the North-East, contrary to claims he made that he was wounded fighting Boko Haram in Borno, while seeking assistance. “He exploited a fabricated operational history to deceive government officials and members of the public. His actions not only amount to fraud but also undermine the sacrifices of personnel who genuinely participated in that high-risk operation,” another source said. According to Military sources, efforts were ongoing to transfer the suspect to Lagos for the conclusion of investigations and commencement of appropriate disciplinary procedures. The development has sparked concerns over the need for due diligence and verification of claims made by individuals seeking recognition or assistance based on security operations.
