The wet lab is an expensive place to find out that you were wrong. 💸 At #AACR2026, we’re showcasing how teams at AstraZeneca, Ono, and MSD are already working with us to predict more and test less. We use Virtual Assays first, simulating millions of perturbations, to find the fraction of experiments actually worth your time. The data on our poster speaks for itself: 70% prospective hit rate, 50% shorter timeline to in vivo validation, 100% higher in vitro validation rate vs. industry benchmarks. 🚀 Abstract: eu1.hubs.ly/H0tp5Gh0 Come see the results at our poster session on April 21 (9 AM - 12 PM) or visit booth #4845 to say hi to the team!

We once tried to force our models to obey a thousand textbook biology rules. 📑 It made them worse. Not because the model was wrong, but because the “general cell” those rules describe doesn’t actually exist. A short cautionary tale about "Biological Truth Benchmarks" and overgeneralization. Multimodality is a liability if your data isn't measuring the same underlying state. If your signals aren't aligned, you might just be injecting noise into the latent space instead of building a better representation. Our rule of thumb: if modality A can’t help predict modality B, don't fuse them. Bigger isn't better, but alignment is. Richard Izrael, PhD, Head of Lab, is at SLAS this week. At Turbine, we virtualize biological experiments by creating virtual copies of wet-lab assays, built on a lab-in-the-loop approach. This allows us to explore assay design, payload combinations, and gene-level effects through simulation before committing to physical experiments. The result is earlier insight, faster iteration, and decisions grounded in real experimental biology. Catch us at the Networking Power Hour on Monday. #SLAS #DrugDiscovery #ADCs #VirtualBiology

This week invites reflection on progress in cancer research and where new approaches may genuinely change how decisions are made. ADCs are pushing precision medicine forward, especially as the field explores dual-payload strategies that move beyond average responses toward biological context and heterogeneity. At Turbine, we virtualize biological experiments to support earlier exploration of complex questions before resources are committed in the lab. We also learn alongside the community through Virtual Biology Meetups. Progress in cancer research is built incrementally through better questions, better tools, and sustained collaboration. Dual-payload ADCs won’t reach their full potential if they’re designed by trial and error. 🧪 As ADC pipelines grow at record pace, tumor heterogeneity, resistance, and off-tumor toxicity still limit durable clinical benefit. Evidence is building that carefully designed dual-payload strategies can reach more tumor cells and slow resistance, but only if the combinations are chosen intelligently. In this article, Jerzy Woźnicki, PhD, discusses how Turbine’s Virtual Lab and in silico disease models help screen and stress-test dual-payload combinations before they reach the bench. 🔬🖥️ 🔗 eu1.hubs.ly/H0rh0kC0

High benchmark scores don’t mean your virtual cell is useful. Impressive metrics often fail to translate into reliable biological insight to help decision-making. Benchmarks focused on limited real-world impact, weak or missing domain baselines, growing risks of data leakage, and overly convenient metrics can all create a false sense of progress. In this post, our CTO and Gerold Csendes shares how we assess the actual utility of virtual cells in practice and why evaluation rigor, not leaderboard position, ultimately determines whether a model is worth trusting. What happens when a scientist steps into the future of experimentation and becomes a VIRTUAL LAB SUPERUSER? Meet Iván Fekete, Turbine Co-founder and translational biologist, using the Virtual Lab every single day to understand disease biology at a depth and speed that traditional workflows simply can’t match. Tune in on the debut episode of our Superuser series as he tackles a major question: How to combine ADC payloads to achieve synergy? In under 5 minutes, you’ll see how the Virtual Lab empowers Iván to: 🔹simulate a myriad of virtual experiments in seconds 🔹reveal combination synergy and resistance patterns 🔹investigate the mechanisms driving cellular response on a single platform No coding. No friction. Just intuitive in-silico experimentation that lets any scientist test all their ideas before wet lab validation. And beyond this episode, the Virtual Lab also helps researchers walk into the wet lab with sharper, more strategic plans - enhancing clinical translatability and supporting more rational decisions. Iván uses it every day - and you could too, without needing an entire data-science team. Our virtual biology platform is a practical product already integrated into pharma R&D workflows. Ready to become a superuser? 🚀 eu1.hubs.ly/H0pWKsT0 Let’s learn more about our ADC Simulation Suite here: eu1.hubs.ly/H0pWKyj0

🔥Turbine made the Sifted Future 50 ranking! Sifted has named us one of Europe’s rising startups showing exceptional revenue growth in their latest financial year, putting us on track to qualify for the Sifted 250 in 2026. We are the first company to bring virtual experiments from concept to real-scientific practice. Our growth is built on a decade of building and refining a virtual biology product that biopharma companies have since began to integrate into their R&D workflows. Some seriously impressive startups made the list, see who’s alongside us! 🔗eu1.hubs.ly/H0pT7F10 #Future50 #SiftedLeaderboards

So… what is a virtual cell? In its ideal form, a virtual cell would be a complete, general simulation of biology - one that can accurately predict outcomes in entirely new contexts without retraining. 💡This is the dream. And it’s not something we have today and that’s perfectly okay. Yet over the past year, virtual cells have become one of the most hyped topics in biotech and AI. And as with any hype cycle, the noise often makes it hard to see what the technology can really do today and what it can’t. What we have today are narrow virtual cell models that can predict outcomes within a well-defined assay, where we have sufficient calibration data. These are already virtualizing many experiments with impressive accuracy (through what we call virtual assays). At Turbine we already have a ready-to-use, practical product built on this principle, one that pharma teams are already integrating directly into their workflows. 👉Read our Founder & CTO Kristof Szalay's blog post for the deeper explanation here: eu1.hubs.ly/H0pQrc60

This week, we’re heading to the scverse Conference at Stanford University - right into the heart of the virtual cell conversation, with teams like Tahoe Therapeutics Arc Institute and Chan Zuckerberg Initiative in the room. As one of the few teams in the virtual biology space, with a practical product already integrated into pharma workflows, we’re bringing hands-on experience to the table. Our consumable Virtual Lab is actively supporting drug discovery teams today and we’re excited to share what we’ve learned. We’re also presenting a poster, and we’d love for you to stop by. Our poster examines why masking-based pretraining doesn’t enhance perturbation modeling - and the useful insight behind this outcome. Come see our poster at 4.15pm PDT and join the conversation with Bence Szalai Bence Czakó, PhD Richard Izrael, PhD. eu1.hubs.ly/H0pJs8F0 #decodingbiology #virtualdrugdiscovery #virtualizeexperiments #virtualcell #simulatedcell #aiforbiology #virtualbiology

Turbine is everywhere 👀 We’ve just landed in Vienna for BIO-Europe and in San Diego for World ADC - ready to get inspired, share ideas, and give back to the scientific community. For over a decade, we’ve been building and refining a true virtual biology platform that pharma and biotech teams can integrate directly into their R&D workflows. This journey has made us the first company to bring virtual experiments from concept to real scientific practice & now, you can see it in action! Come check out our Virtual Lab demo at Booth C198 (Vienna) or Booth 118 (San Diego). Can’t make it this time? No worries, you can find all the details on our website: eu1.hubs.ly/H0pnpTT0
