There are milestones that mark a career, and then there are moments that become part of a legacy. This summer was one of those moments for some of our Brentsville Turf Alumni. To see former students contributing to the FIFA World Cup is an extraordinary achievement and a testament to their professionalism and commitment to excellence. Their work helped support one of the world’s premier sporting events, and the impact they have made on the global stage is truly remarkable. Equally impressive is the opportunity they had to work alongside and learn from some of the brightest minds in the industry. Experiences like these not only shape careers but also leave a lasting impact on the future of the profession. We are eternally grateful to all of you! We are incredibly proud of Julie, Zach, and Logan and all they have accomplished and look forward to seeing the continued impact they make within the turfgrass industry and beyond.

The number one reason the turfgrass industry is the best? The people. This summer, one of our seniors, Abigail Norris, was visiting the West Coast and expressed interest in meeting the Golf Course Superintendent at the world-renowned Pebble Beach Golf Links. We reached out, and without hesitation, Mr. Peter Bachman responded immediately excited to welcome her on-site and share the incredible opportunities that exist within the turfgrass industry. Moments like these have the power to change the trajectory of a student’s life. They open doors, inspire new possibilities, and demonstrate the strength of an industry that genuinely invests in its future. We are profoundly grateful for professionals like Mr. Bachman, and the countless industry leaders across the country, who have generously given their time, mentorship, and support to our students over the years. The turfgrass industry doesn’t just grow great grass, it grows people, careers, and futures.

A highlight of my day at the @usopengolf was spending time with @JonJennings, 41-year @GCSAA member, and the team at @ShinnecockHills. Looking around the volunteer tent, I was reminded what makes our profession special: connection, support, and service. Best of luck this week.

That time of year. Verticut, Unirake, Topdress, Deeptine, fert. We have tried to pull back our ryegrass rates to promote better spring bermuda green up, which we made it through spring sports and practices with 8lbs/1000sqft. Using sapphire and revolver to remove it. I think we finally have hit our sweet spot. @ZachGoetzTurf has got things movin, I can’t thank him enough for his help.

Wrapped the day up on campus, seeing classroom spaces and talking about the opportunities available to our students at Penn State! Would not be a trip to Penn State without a stop at their world-famous Creamery! We cannot thank @PSUTurf for the incredible opportunity to show our students the opportunities of the future. 🤟🏼
