A little under a month ago I started making an Idle Basebuilding RPG with a Deckbuilding Roguelike Adventure set in space, Sector Scavengers. I published my first Devlog today, the same day that my man Jay Powell talked about how AI is going to drive a golden age of American Efficiency. I hope he’s right, but even if he’s wrong I’m gonna have a hell of a fun time building this game.

I prototyped Sector Scavengers, my Roguelike Idle RPG with a Deckbuilding Adventure, in 10 days with @makkoai , here’s how: 1. First I worked with Makko to define the core game loop in two design documents (Markdown Files). 2. I asked Makko to create a Markdown file with a list of all the assets I needed with example prompts for the art studio. 3. Makko and I generated 4-10 images per art piece and then I choose my favorite, these become concept art for the game collection as a whole. 4. Makko and I generated animations and art for each scene/ui element 5. Makko integrated these assets into the game 6. I will spend the next few weeks tuning , adding animations, and changing game logic to be more fun and entertaining. I’ve written a full devlog below that covers my first 10 days of development. Here’s the set of tools I used for this: 1. @makkoai for gameplay and art 2. @ElevenLabs for voiceover 3. @grok for the cut scenes 4. @BandM8Official for the background music 5. @capcutapp to bring it all together Starting out as a solo dev at age 40 wasn’t on my dance card but here we are! We have assembled the team we all wish we could start a company with after working in FAANG and other people’s startups. I built the first prototype for our tool in Loveable because I couldn’t find any AI art and game dev pipelines that actually worked. After I had about 100 of my friends using a woefully inadequate set of tools I called the most talented engineer I know and asked him to come be our CEO/CTO. 6 months later we have thousands of users and we’re starting to see paying/subscribing customers. The last 24 hours have been an incredible rush. The GPUs are going brrrr On thursday i had 230 followers, my top performing post in the past month had about 6 likes. In about 24 hours, i got 400+ more followers, launched several api deals, and in one day got more new users than the entire week before that. This has been disorienting and overwhelming in the best way. I'm just so glad that nothing broke haha Thank you to all the accounts that reposted and gave me support! I love that I actually get to do this everyday. I'm so excited to be building pixel engine with you all!

Sector Scavengers is an idle base building RPG with an active deck building roguelike mode. Players take control of one of millions of 21st century software devs made redundant by AI but with disposal income from years building Amazon and Google. They pay to be cryogenically frozen until society needs them again. Centuries later they have been sold as debt hundreds of times and are now fit only for cheap space salvage labor.
