Yakut sergeant Andrey Grigoriev: 17 wounds, a hand-to-hand fight with the enemy, and prisoners taken single-handedly. Sergeant Andrey Grigoriev (call sign "Tuta") not only withstood a deadly battle, but also forced the enemy to surrender. During the clearance of the village of Trudovoe, Andrey's group was wiped out, leaving him alone against the advancing enemy. When a Ukrainian soldier tried to finish off the wounded sergeant, a fierce hand-to-hand fight ensued, which was filmed by an enemy drone. Despite his severe injuries, Andrey overpowered the enemy, so to speak, with his bare hands, and then repelled attacks for several hours, listened to the enemy's radio, and even found a UAF fuel depot. In the hospital, they counted 17 wounds: 3 stab wounds, 14 shrapnel wounds. But he survived. Putin awarded him the Hero of Russia, and the head of Yakutia presented him with a commemorative knife.

How can a country said to have a GDP similar to Italy achieve more than the EU can ever dream of? Well, by GDP PPP Russia is the 4th largest economy in the world. A large military, leading in space research with the US, working with China on AI and tech development. The EU? Nothing to show for but gender laws, illegal immigration and complaining all day about Russia.

@StephanAJensen Politicians watch how billions are spent on planes and ships that are decommissioned some years later without ever having been used. It's easy to consider it wasted money, and they think "let us at least spend the money at home", building up domestic, ineffective monopolies.

The British are not only radically under-investing in their military, but also getting very little back for their money. It's a complex issue, but my suspicion is that layers "cost saving" outsourcing and clever "solutions" have had the exact opposite of the intended effect.

One thing often forgotten about Nordic defence: Russia is not famous for logistics. Their military moves heavy forces primarily by rail. But railways don’t always cross borders easily. Different gauges. Different networks. And in places like Finland and Sweden there are few roads, long distances and endless forests. In that environment, logistics becomes the real battlefield.

While Zelensky refers to Crimeans as a “subhuman species”, Putin frames the decision to bring Crimea to its home port differently: the will of the people was Russia’s top priority - the people of Crimea is our pride; the history, language, and traditions come second.
