@FabTheWoker @Linus200712345 But the effect of that is to say those from an immigrant background who are citizens have a citizenship that is revocable and thereby not truly equal to their peers. And such a policy would not be colour blind in effect.

My understanding about the Berlin attack and also for a lot of criminals in Sweden of this nature is that we already know about them, they are in police registers. Also this was someone of the second generation so you cannot really deport him I would assume.

@FabTheWoker @Linus200712345 No it’s not a right to become a citizen. But once one is a citizen, they should be equal to every other citizen. The suspect in the Berlin attack was born a in Germany to a German citizen mother. He has never been an immigrant and to remove his citizenship would be racist imo

@FabTheWoker @Linus200712345 But citizenship is a right. It seems problematic to create two classes of citizenship of those who come from an immigrant background and those who don’t. Some citizens could then lose their rights and others can’t based on their ancestry.

@Linus200712345 holding a citizenship is a privilege, not a right. It just makes sense to have a punishment for that. The US did that in some school shooting cases

I've no dog in the fight (having sensibly done my BA in North America) but the Oxbridge discourse reminds me of Reddit threads like "what's the smartest kid in you school doing?" and the answers are always like "he's really successful" when what people want is "he overdosed".
