Delighted to share that a research paper I contributed to was the second most read long form produced at ORF in 2023. The paper traces recent upgrades/modernisation in the Chinese military and discusses their implications @KartikBommakan1 orfonline.org/series/editors…

@tweetsbyharris @SCMPNews With the brewing climate crisis world wide, it’s high time India adopt 2 time zones. This could potentially help save up to 2.7B units of electricity and ease up the energy crises. This move can have a positive effect on the nations electricity trade guidelines? What do you think

In my latest for @SCMPNews, I argue why India’s electricity trade guidelines offer little geopolitical benefits in the BBIN region. Read more: scmp.com/comment/opinio…

Victory of ‘India-Out’ faction in 🇲🇻 presidential elections is not by extension equal to ‘China-In’. I discuss this in my latest for @SCMPNews amp.scmp.com/comment/opinio…

@AbdulMimrah However the Maldives should take a look at other more relevant examples in SA, like Nepal whose shiny new airports are struggling to remain economically viable and remain vary of Chinese eagerness to bankroll infra development

@AbdulMimrah Totally agree with you. A continuation of the present admin certainly suits 🇮🇳 more, but the deep ties that 🇨🇳 has cultivated in the 🇲🇻 will not be set back by this. There might be a lull but 🇨🇳 will remain an important balancing force to 🇮🇳 & may even be preferred for infra

Pleased to share my first piece for the Observer Research Foundation. I argue that contrary to popular narratives, China retains a strong influence in the Maldives. orfonline.org/expert-speak/c…

Maps showing 🇮🇳 and 🇨🇳 infrastructure projects in 🇲🇻 by yours truly. Read my article for @orfonline which argues that with the Presidential Elections in 🇲🇻 the fate of these projects and Indian Ocean geopolitics also hangs in the balance. orfonline.org/expert-speak/h…

Replugging a commentary I wrote a year ago @IPCSNewDelhi While the hype around #AUKUS may have simmered down, its interesting to see how #ASEAN Centrality to the Indo-Pacific is no longer the buzzword. Would be interested in hearing what you think about the arguments I made:
IPCS, New Delhi@IPCSNewDelhi

#Replug | Will #AUKUS Push #ASEAN to the Indo-Pacific’s Margins? Harris Amjad looked at how AUKUS could further erode ASEAN unity as well as risk its position of centrality in the #IndoPacific. Read: ipcs.org/comm_select.ph…
