Celebrating women this month & every month! In celebration of women today and always, I want to express my admiration for their courage, strength, and the sacrifices they make for the greater good. I am particularly grateful for the remarkable women of @NyakaGlobal, whose hard work and determination have empowered thousands of vulnerable children to thrive. On this #WomensDay, March 8th, let’s elevate our efforts to ensure every woman and girl receives the respect and rights they deserve. Wishing a wonderful #HappyWomensDay 2024 to all the inspiring women out there!

In life, challenges are inevitable. When faced with setbacks, we have a choice: to succumb to despair or rise to the occasion. During the construction of the Nyaka Vocational Secondary School project, we encountered a significant hurdle—a bridge collapse >>youtu.be/ZqrTEPxzVJc?si… In that moment, it would have been easy to give up, to abandon our dreams and wallow in frustration. However, we made a conscious decision to stand tall and regroup. Instead of allowing the setback to defeat us, we chose to innovate and strategize anew. This choice to persist, to keep moving forward despite adversity, has proven to be vital. It has taught us resilience and the importance of teamwork, ultimately leading us to continue our mission of building a school that would empower our community. Looking back, I am grateful for our collective determination and commitment to not letting one obstacle define our journey. Each challenge we faced became an opportunity for growth, reminding us that perseverance can lead to success. In reflection, I am thankful for the moments of resilience that have shaped our path. It is in our choices to keep moving forward so that we discover our strengths and purposes. What's that one choice you think has a lot to do with your current situation?

@Twejaka You were such a blessing to us as budding Change Makers in last year’s “Uganda Philanthropy Symposium” in Kampala. Glad that you are still amplifying your voice and indeed it helped us to make changes down here and results are starting to show. Keep Going Jack!!!

We have a powerful solution to address the issue of donor dependency: rising beyond it. We touched on this topic earlier this week. Follow up, here: zoom.us/webinar/regist… I have witnessed firsthand the dangers of donor dependency in nonprofits. While initial funding can propel our missions forward, overreliance on external donors stifles innovation and sustainability. Why?: When organizations depend heavily on a limited pool of funding sources, they risk losing their autonomy and ability to adapt to community needs. This dependency can lead to mission drift, where priorities shift to align with donor interests rather than the actual needs of those we serve. I have said this many times, and i will repeat; it’s crucial for non-profits to develop diverse revenue streams, empower communities, and foster resilience without compromising our core values. To my young change makers, I know I may be a bit of a nag, but please allow me to express my thoughts. You’ll appreciate it in the long run! Sometimes,'obukadde magezi'.
