Random Eed observations:
1. The Imam should stick to Suratul Ala and Ghashiyah in the Eed prayer. There's no reason to prolong the Eed prayer with lengthy recitation while the Sun hits worshippers...and you're under an umbrella.
2. Worshippers should try wait for the khutbah and wait till the Imam slaughters his goat/ram/cow/camel. Ergo the khutbah should be short too.
3. It is a shame if the Imam slaughters an animal that doesn't belong to him. The Imam should buy his own animal, even if it is the yoruba dwarf goat. The congregation can contribute an amount to buy the ram/goat/cow/camel for the Imam.
4. West Africa and perhaps the Arab Maghreb holds the ram to be the best of sacrificial animals hence the price of rams skyrockets during this season. Note that goats are also valid.
5. The proliferation of Masjids , Jumuah masjid and Eed grounds is an INNOVATION of this century. I was in Ilorin a couple of days ago and noticed the Lagos madness of unwarranted masajid is also taking ground there.
Ideally, a new mosque should only be built where the natural voice of the mu'adhdhin from the nearest mosque can no longer be heard. And a Jumuah mosque should only be one in a community. Now we are having multiple Eed grounds !
Inasmuch as the Eed Imam is not a kafir , pls pray in the older Eed ground.
6. We pray Eed in the open field not in Mosques. Unless there's rain or circumstances outside our control, this is where the Eed should be held.
7. The days of Eed are days of eating, drinking and making merry don't use it to create problems for your family.
