. @M_Kananura "Three (03) people died and four (04) others sustained injuries following a fatal road crash involving motor vehicle registration number UA 20121AA (Toyota Hiace) & a crossing elephant. The crash occurred on the night of 24th May 2026 at approximately 8:00 p.m. along the Arua road within Murchison Falls National Park in Nwoya District. According to preliminary investigations the driver of the Toyota Hiace which was carrying seven (07) officials from the URA travelling from Arua city back to Kampala after official duty knocked a crossing elephant and subsequently lost control of the vehicle. Three occupants died on the spot while four others including the driver sustained injuries. Police responded promptly and rushed the injured victims to Kiryandongo Hospital for medical attention before they were later transferred to Kampala for further management. The bodies of the deceased were conveyed to Anaka Hospital Mortuary pending postmortem examinations. Motorists are strongly urged to exercise extreme caution while driving through national parks and wildlife-protected areas especially during night hours and to strictly observe speed limits to avoid such incidents.

Thirty-five Counter Terrorism officers have completed a two-day Public Speaking and Media Communication course at CT Headquarters, Naguru, on 23rd May 2026. The training, facilitated by Assoc. Prof. Dennis Akankunda Bwesigye, focused on building confidence, clarity, and effective engagement with the media and communities, guided by principles of supportive psychotherapy. Officers were equipped with practical skills in public speaking, message structuring, body language, and handling high-pressure engagements professionally. The course was closed by Deputy Director CT, CP Manzi David, who urged participants to apply the skills to enhance public trust and operational effectiveness.

During the visit, trainees demonstrated a range of tactical and operational skills to the delegation as they prepare for their pass-out ceremony scheduled for next week. The drills showcased included rappelling, rescue missions, assault operations, and obstacle crossing. A total of six EAPCCO member countries, alongside the Central African Republic, Seychelles, and Liberia, are participating in the training.

On 21 May 2026, the Rwanda Minister of Interior, Dr. Vincent Biruta, and the Inspector General of Police, CG Felix Namuhoranye, together with other senior police officers and SSP Tobias Ahumuza, the Commandant Tactical of the Uganda Police Force, toured the Mayange Counter-Terrorism Training Centre in Bugesera District, Eastern Province. The visit was aimed at assessing the preparedness of the ongoing Joint SWAT Training under the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO), currently taking place at the facility. The joint training is designed to enhance tactical and operational capabilities, strengthen counter-terrorism preparedness, and promote regional security cooperation through joint exercises among participating countries.

Police in Mubende are investigating a case of theft involving unidentified suspects who broke into a vehicle and stole cash amounting to UGX 100 million before abandoning part of the money and fleeing during a police pursuit. The incident occurred on 21/05/2026 at around 5:00 PM at Kalonga Trading Centre in Kalonga Sub-county. The suspects, travelling in a white Toyota Premio registration number UAP 811H, reportedly broke into a parked Toyota Rumion registration number UBR 308A and stole a laptop bag containing the cash. The money had earlier been withdrawn from Centenary Bank Mubende Branch and was being transported back to Kalonga Trading Centre. The victim briefly parked the vehicle and entered a nearby shop, only to return moments later and discover that the vehicle had been broken into and the money stolen.
