@maz_jovanovich Urrghhh, and that title. Try “four men killed four women” or at very least “four people killed four women”. They know better by now and yet they keep doing it… using language that removes the perpetrator, like these women got themselves killed.

@TheCentralBlue Which is not to say it isn’t achievable but that Air Force has yet another reason to prioritise and balance work load, take seriously the ‘minimal viable bureaucracy’ theory and reduce the number of ‘less impactful’ jobs, so that we can take on important initiatives like this.

@TheCentralBlue In playing devils advocate, when I have bought up this ideal approach in the past, a regular response was that secondments are not actually cost-neutral as they impost a greater workload on the remaining members of the team in already bare bone workplaces.

@redunley Lots of people I know have added policy creation type post grad IOT use their degree but I am looking at history options after I finish my current Masters next year, for the same purpose as them though, of bolstering my ability to understand and use the education I already have

@ASPC_Australia Great points. Have had a lot of discussions RE the need to remunerate outside rank progression as a much needed key structural change. I imagine many under-resourced units are looking at the amount of staff in our HQs and wanting all of the concepts mentioned to be tested.

Last Thursday was a very special day. The 19 year Air Force anniversary for me and I spent it at 100SQN with Ted McConchie, former 100SQN wireless operator gunner who served in WWII, celebrating his 100th birthday. Ted’s stories were amazing, along with his humour and grit.

At the many events I saw WOFF-AF Grasby in action, it was really something special to watch - always making time to talk to and sit with our junior aviators and taking genuine interest.
