And if you think the 14 teams who have won championships this century were spending the same amount on their rosters as all the teams that didn’t win, I’d like to tell you about a great opportunity with Rio Rancho Estates and I’m only in town for the night

Since the year 2000 there have been 14 different teams who have won a CFB championship (10% of all possible teams) Since 2000 there have been 16 different teams who have won a World Series (53% of all possible teams) CFB has always had less parity than MLB.

NEW: Missouri's Eli Drinkwitz warns @Clowfb college football could head down a similar path as the MLB due to spending disparities📉 "If you're going to have teams that have $45M rosters competing against teams that have $15M and $20M rosters, you're going to run the risk of turning into Major League Baseball, where you have the LA Dodgers and the Florida Marlins. And that's a professional league that's not growing, that's struggling in their TV deals." Exclusive: on3.com/news/missouris…

I’m teaching Sylvia Plath next week and now I simply must amend my lecture to add “In the years after her death, some critics have posited that she’d have been a huge Arsenal supporter who loves Max Dowman.”

📸 - William Shakespeare. Dante Alighieri. Pablo Neruda. 2Pac. Lord Byron. Sylvia Plath. The most famous poets are watching down on Max Dowman with a smile on their faces. Even THEY couldn't write this script!

This is why the NCAA fucking around just to try to prove a point to all student athletes about eligibility requests is so fucked up & why Chambliss was able to show so clearly that their rulings are fundamentally capricious. They fuck with him to prove a point. He loses millions.
Chase Parham@ChaseParham

Trinidad Chambliss’ amended filing says the QB lost a potential EA Sports video game cover deal because of the eligibility fight. He was 1 of 3 finalists and perhaps the “favored player” but EA pulled out over the risk. Chambliss is seeking damages and possible punitive damages.

Also, The Crossing is McCarthy’s masterpiece on the west. Blood Meridian is great but not McCarthy at his best.

Westward expansion is very important to understanding America. So are many other places and concepts. Morrison. Faulkner. Melville. Hemingway. Baldwin. All just as vital. No singular subject outstrips the others because they’re all gateways to examining the larger human condition

This is as reductionist as what he claims about “books that hyper-fixate on one section or another.” The greatest American novels DO hyper-fixate. They must. Because literature and art find the universal through the specific. As McCarthy does with the West….
𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐚 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲@VaGentleman

Even if THE GREAT AMERICAN NOVEL isn’t Blood Meridian, it *has* to be about the West imo. Westward expansion into the frontier is what made America. That is our epic.I think books that hyper-fixate on one section or another miss this. Please let me know what you think below.

College athletics have always skirted dangerously close to FERPA violations. Programs routinely give out information that would be a FERPA violation if it was about any “regular” student. This is a wild attempt by Clemson to avoid admitting that Dabo said things he shouldn’t have

@MichaelBorkey I’m no lawyer but I would think that publicly and repeatedly naming the student and quoting him before hiding behind FERPA to sit on documents would be viewed unfavorably if Ferelli wanted to push this. Invoking FERPA is, ostensibly, to protect his privacy, which Dabo ignored…

You did press conference theater, publicly naming the player, things he said, and now won’t respond to public record law requests because it’s “personal” If you buy that I’ll throw the golden gate in free.
