But I keep this from our children. I am trying to sell them the dream of freedom. The dream of a world done differently. I keep hope and try to inspire it in others even when hopelessness feels easier.

For every neighborhood that thrives, there’s one where the rent hikes are eviction notices in disguise. Life is short, and the system is at least half racist, and for every ally in power doing the right shit, there’s one who profits from our oppression and pain.

Life is short, and democracy is at least half theater, and for every leader who serves the people, there’s 100 who only serve themselves while proclaiming how “good” they are. For every policy meant to uplift, there’s ten loopholes designed to exclude us.

At some point you gotta realize that your fairytale ending is in the work you’re avoiding.

Instead of playing in the field, I tilled mine & cultivated a love that something great will grow from. Go get invested in your harvest.
