This morning on my back patio, with A Revolutionary Friendship in my hands, I was reminded of a joy I had missed for far too long. Before law school, reading for pleasure was something I loved. Then law school, and years of legal reading, changed my relationship with books. Over the past year, though, I have found my way back. I wrote about that return, the quiet of a spring morning, and what finishing this book stirred in me. A special shout out to my high school English teachers: Mrs. Jackson, Mrs. Blackley, and Mrs. Miller, for helping plant in me a love of reading that found its way back. I truly enjoyed today’s visit to Ashland, Mississippi, for the Vietnam Veterans Day Ceremony. It was an honor to join a community that took time to recognize and remember the service and sacrifice of our Vietnam veterans. A special thank you to the Benton County Library System, Walnut VFW Post 6696, and American Legion Ripley Post 81 for putting together such a meaningful event. I appreciate the warm welcome and the opportunity to stand with those who have worn the uniform and served this nation with honor. We owe our veterans more than words.
