Morai exclusive‼️(As close to SPOILERS I'll get, so you've been warned🚨): I know of at least three different temple-like locations that our heroes explore in AHSOKA season 2. Notice I say 'heroes' and not just 'Ahsoka & Sabine'... There’s a new temple we haven’t seen in any art or public images which is made of dark grey / black stone with gold stripes set in across, moving up the building like the rungs of a ladder. The colors & construction *do* look a lot like the aesthetic of the Great Mothers’ fortress from season 1, but would only be speculating if I said which planet this was on... 🚨SPOILER 🚨 Running across its front toward the entryway is a stone engraving showing a conflict where the Nightsisters of old & ancient Kaiju machines are present. In the middle of this engraving, perhaps a separate story, stands three figures whose presence & purpose remains unknown. This may even be depicting the destruction of Peridea for all I know, which eventually succumbed to planetary war according to Dave Filoni. Off to the side, a few pieces of stone have crumbled to the ground, but it is all pretty much intact - including two tall statues that guard the entrance, swords in their grasp… More to come. 🦉

@moraimessenger // If I remember right season 1 filming finished in october 2022. Abt 6 months later at SWCL we got first trailer (I visited the "AHSOKA"-panel & saw an extended one as well 😁) But now there's a movie coming up first. Still guess we get a date. And perhaps the "Japan-Trailer"😁

Feels appropriate to repost this...A LOOK BACK at the marketing for AHSOKA season 1. 🦉 Remember that 2023 was both a Star Wars Celebration year AND a Hollywood strikes year, so a lot of coverage starting 4.5 months before release (which is not common for Disney+ shows) & then a pause before the official trailer, leading to somewhat middling promotion. This isn't necessarily indicative of what we'll get for season 2. Very possible they are trying to condense the marketing window for greater impact. So, what do you think? When do you think we'll start seeing the roll-out for AHSOKA season 2? Will it be May 4? Will it not be until the summer?

I’m sure someone will lecture me about something related to this. If it’s not evident already, I *stay* hyping up this upcoming season that I’m unapologetically and detrimentally excited for. There’s actually not enough words in the English language to describe my excitement. But I’ve following these sorts of things long enough to know a few things. Happy to be proven wrong @Lucasfilm @starwars

Yes, I have seen this. I remain at my core a skeptic, so I’m not yet getting myself excited. All logic points to this not aligning with the tried-and-true Disney+ marketing pattern, even for, say, an August release. Listen, I like being hopeful. I also like being realistic. May 4ths have generally been disappointing on the hype end of things aside from a ‘Tales’ drop or a season finale of an ongoing show. Keep hope alive if that helps you! Or think about the logic of it, if that helps you instead.

@moraimessenger // I saw several posted videos on his insta-account during the shooting months of season 2 last year. Showing him doing (lightsaber) excercises on a balkony with a great view from "somewhere above it all"... He trained a lot, so I hope we'll see what's it for! 😏😀

@moraimessenger // I like & appreciate that "open-air"-set your posted photo shows for season 2! 😀 A "smaller budget" or jokes like Dave did can lead to "lower expectations" at all. But I think a fascinating story with the included characters can be done even with "less" in a "great way". 😏🤠

Some Morai perspective: AHSOKA season 1 vs. season 2. Remember Rosario Dawson said there's a smaller budget? & how Dave joked about selling Loth-kitten merch to “pay for it”? Well, that is maybe true. But, there are reasons why I’ve been saying to not worry about that! 🦉 The perfect example is as below. The backlot set for season 2 is maybe *3-4 times the size* of the one used previously. And where the first season had a small backlot & a small Volume set, this season has the huge backlot, a full soundstage set, & multiple other locations for the planet. Built sets, painted backdrops, crowd scenes (more to come on that); for a production given less, it certainly used more. And the move to the UK is a big reason for that. They were just able to reallocate money more strategically. For one, the UK’s got one of the most aggressive film/TV rebate setups. Productions can get, I think, around 25% cash rebate on qualified budgetary spending. So even if the budget’s technically smaller, it goes way further. Other reasons, for this Peridea set specifically: they already designed the location for season 1. They can reuse, rebuild, and upscale existing assets when planning. Departments know what worked and what didn’t. And Dave himself is just more experienced now. All in all, this season is going to have some massive scope, with collaborations between both the on-set and the VFX teams. Don't worry about budget. Morai exclusive, a special one today: Live. Action. Dathomir. AHSOKA season 2, y'all. 🧙‍♀️Obviously, this set looks amazing, but most notable are the painted backdrops - a largely bygone film-making tool - which wraps around this Dathomir set and several of the other large ones. These backgrounds were used with green screen curtains to either cover or pull away for certain shots. Painted backgrounds were used in place of the Volume in many instances, though LED wall technology was still utilized here and there. Dave Filoni and his team went all out for this Star Wars! (Obviously, this is an image from set, not a finished frame with VFX. Don’t think I need to say that, but y’all know how it goes.) More to come. 🦉

We've spoken a little bit about some costume, makeup, and wig changes in AHSOKA season 2, but a fun, small change can be seen below! It appears that Ahsoka (the White's) boots were updated to include a tabi 足袋 shoe detail that wasn't included in season 1, paying more homage to her ronin influences.
