The fact is that Kochi is the film capital of Kerala & the home of Mollywood. No matter how hard you try to downgrade it, the truth can't be changed. Mwood was in Chennai for a long time & now is in Kochi

@KochiFirst Kochi is demand driven, every artist became part of it. But capital isn’t decided by demand it’s decided by legacy and roots. A strong shift will always place it back to its roots.

@TylerDurdeog The shift is because Mollywood is entirely centred in Kochi. If artists need to be active, they have to shift to Kochi or nearby areas. We even saw MG Sreekumar and Priyadarshan (core tvm people) do the same. AMMA shifted from tvm to Kochi. You can't just close your eyes brother

@KochiFirst Two decades of activeness can’t make a place the capital. The shift to Kochi is never equivalent to Koyambedu or Chennai , if shift happens everything eventually returns to its roots. That’s why I said it’s only demand due to demand, not undisputed.

Tvm is the best venue for IFFK. I’ve been attending IFFK since 2021 by two wheelers , and though the city is busy, it’s not congested like Kochi. Theatres are all in the centre, so everyone can reach easily and on time. That accessibility keeps Tvm unmatched for the festival.

@TylerDurdeog All the associations related to films are based in Kochi. Majority of active artists have settled in Kochi. Most pre production, post editing, dubbing, vfx etc etc etc are all done in Kochi. Kochi is the undisputed film capital of the state by miles.

@TylerDurdeog Not just preproduction, every process of film making is done in Kochi. Only certification and censor process is done in Tvm (there is demand to shift censor board office to Kochi too).
Just like how chennai is for tollywood, Kochi is for mollywood. You can't deny that at all.

As a Trivian,
IFFK is part of Trivandrum's cultural identity.
It has belonged here for decades,the accessible venues, good theatres, long queues, food spots, and the entire festival atmosphere.
Losing IFFK would be another terrible move to the city's cultural landscape!
