I thought it was an excellent pro wrestling promo on a television show. The CM Punk character is at his best when he’s positioned as a figure that is gutsy and doesn’t give a fuck about anything, and he had fantastic material against Roman. It was a for the boys, for the business, and for the fans, ace promo that added heat to his title match and framed him as a renegade figure on the television show. Really well done and well constructed.

@BackupHangman Really good listen and I thought Tony gave a lot. Staying steady through WWEs boom period and thereafter is a feat in itself. All you can hope for as a fan is them trying to get better/put on the best product they can and they usually do

I thought the Tony Khan, Coachman/Russo interview was compelling. The line of questioning was fair, but one thing I do feel is that the Russo generation of wrestling people suffer from Monday Night War brain. They cannot accept the idea that being steady is still success. AEW will NEVER catch up to WWE and that’s okay, you shouldn’t do drastic and radical things in pursuit of gap closing. TNA did this and almost died. The other thing is Tony is very in tune with his audience and displayed as much when he said that they hold AEW to a high standard. He knows how Twitter gets after a weaker Dynamite. Where I do agree with Russo is that, even without going 1995 Heyman, there is an opportunity to punch up at WWE during this period where a lot of their current public facing is extremely anti-fan.

I think CM Punk’s World Title reign has been spectacular for the most part. With him being my favorite wrestler ever, I think his final Old Man Logan esque World Title reign climaxing in a WrestleMania Main Event where he retains the belt after many months of some of his best work ever would be extremely poetic when you look at the entirety of his career. If I had the pen, I’m belting up Oba Femi as soon as it even remotely makes sense to. How many other people on the roster are this over, man? Those Oba chants are legitimately generational for someone who just came on the Main Roster, the strut, the color scheme and the overall presentation of him is already damn near breaking through pop culture. I think putting the belt on this absolute beast of a prospect who can do a mixture of storytelling, comedy, and whatever else you put in front of him would be an incredible end to Punk’s reign post-Mania
