I looked more into it: it was confirmed in the articles that Powell took out an Airsoft Pistol that WAS in a Holster. Since Timm wouldn't have saw the Orange Tip (since it's Washington) Timm does have a self-defense claim since Powell would've been brandishing a handgun and trying to take it out in interpretation.

@RobbRobbinSent @BlackGlobalInfo The second point in my other reply: Would be the fact that if it is an Airsoft gun, it looked to be holstered so the orange tip law for Airsoft guns in Washington would not apply since the tip was concealed giving interpretation of it being a real gun Powell was brandishing.

@RobbRobbinSent @BlackGlobalInfo You're right. However there's two key points to point to a Self Defense claim: Firstly, The footage in camera 1 shown Powell APPROACHING Timm. Even if they argued but Timm disengaged and walked away, the footage shows Powell re-engaging by directly approaching Timm.

Frame 1 you can clearly see Powell's hand on a pistol-grip like object connected to the black square you mention. Plus with the audio, someone clearly said "gun" before Timm took his own gun out of his backpack. So someone clearly perceived Powell to be carrying a Gun. More likely that square is the holster/carrier it was in.
