@C_Jacobson15 Our theme last season for football was #IntoTheStorm, which came from this book. We pushed our players to #beabuffalo🦬 & charge into every storm. By season’s end we finished 7-4, which was the most wins in 6 years. Players still reference the books teaching points 2 years later.

Just finished up my HSSCC today. If you’re a HS strength coach, I would recommend you look into this. Self-paced, great information, thought provoking case studies/quizzes, and applicable solutions for every situation. Thanks, @nhssca_us.

Awesome summer for the football players! Not included in this number are the additional 10-12 non-football athletes we got every day, and our big MS crew in July. Needless to say, it’s been a great summer of training for @WCR2Athletics!
Wright City Football@WrightCityFB

This summer we set a new average attendance record at 40.23 players per day. Last year's mark, which was the previous record, was 38.4. Up nearly 2 guys per day! Proud of these guys for continually running #intothestorm! Enjoy the time off. See you 8/11! #WrightWay @WCR2Athletics

Oh no. My worst nightmare realized. The 5YO claps when the flight lands. We’re gonna work on this. I’ve failed.

This tweet got a lot of interaction. I wanted to address a few key points to creating this model of a School-Wide Summer Training Program: 1. Hire a Qualified S&C Coordinator to be in charge of programming. Preferably one for Boys AND Girls. Pay them a stipend. 2. Pay sport coaches hourly to show up and help. Rotate them throughout the month and maximize their strengths. 3. Set a specific time (Ex. 8:00-9:30am) for training. Sports-specific work happens outside of that time. 4. Get input from sport coaches on metrics that matter most to them. Involve them in the process. 5. Build programming that addresses all key areas: Sprint, Jump, Throw, Lift. Don't just destroy them in the Weight Room. 6. Programming should reflect training age. Progress accordingly. Freshman shouldn't be Maxing out first day "to get a baseline".... 7. Record, Rank, and Publish data to show improvement to sport coaches. Adjust programming as necessary. 8. Find the Minimum Effective Dose to move the needle. If you go 2 hrs, try 1.5 hrs. If you go 4 days, try 3 days. 9. Make it fun. Create competition. It doesn't have to be a GRIND! 10. Rest and Recovery should be scheduled in systematically. 3 or 4-day weekends every week. 7-10 days off in the middle and end of summer. Kids will still get 8 training weeks. I'm working on... "The Ultimate School-Wide Summer Training Program" ...Stay tuned!
