This factorization with 10 qubits arxiv.org/abs/2212.12372 is most advanced one in history of quantum computing. Shor's algorithm fans just have to run it in same QC and compare. Quantum algorithms run in quantum computers, neither in Hilbert space or math theorems of scalability.

Now that the world's richest megalomaniac is destroying this platform with securities fraud, I don't know where I'll go to replace all the benefits of academic science Twitter such as...

@TheAirlineCoach Nothing better than your 2.05am bus simply not showing up, stranding you at LHR until the next scheduled at 4.05am. £23 to stand two hours in the early morning cold, what a bargain!

Had the misfortune to stumble across a nonsensical anti-climate-change "declaration" and was unsurprised to ctrl-F find a total of 131 matches for "mining", "industry", "business", "civil engineer" and "chemical engineer" among the signatories. And 176 "retired"!

@CraigGidney Do you suppose we count the increment operations in the assembly code of every language & interpreter? The backend shouldn't count

@TysonRayJones I was definitely imagining the code *implementing* split-string-by-pattern rather than the code using it.

Has anyone ever done a quantitative survey (eg. by crawling github) of whether languages with half-open range conventions (python, C++, etc) have fewer +1s/-1s in indexing math than languages with closed range conventions (Basic, Julia, etc)?

@TysonRayJones How would you split a string into a prefix and a suffix with a cut at a character position?
