The Rule of 9’s and $EOSE During my earlier years of active trading, I had the privilege of learning from an exceptional mentor who shared a number of practical rules for identifying strong setups. One of the most effective was what he called the “Rule of 9’s.” The principle is straightforward: when a stock approaches a key price level such as $9, $90, or $900, it is highly likely to continue on to the next round number—$10, $100, or $1,000—within a short period of time. These psychological thresholds often act as magnets for price action. They represent levels where short sellers are more inclined to cover, momentum traders and FOMO buyers frequently enter, and the resulting demand can push the price beyond the round number. The overshoot that follows often provides a timely exit opportunity. The strategy, of course, is primarily suited for short-term traders, but it may also hold value for those managing options around a core position in $EOSE. We’re not at $9 yet, but we will be soon.
