Throwback to #DWIHzeitgeist February 1, 2024. In the discussion about Science Diplomacy in Practice, professors from our UAS7 network partners in the US shared their experiences with international applied research projects and more. You can find a short video on youtube.

On October 1, 1923, the Mathilde Vaerting was appointed to University of Jena as first female professor. The Ministry of National Education had appointed her against the wishes of the university and in her 10-year career she often had to deal with harassment and hostility.

Last week, UAS7 took part in the NAFSA conference in New Orleans, LA, and here are some impressions! We got to meet many interesting international educators and hosted our own UAS7 partners' luncheon where we got to talk to friends, partners and alumni and enjoy Creole cuisine.

According to The Campus Advisor’s 2024 Higher Education ranking based on reviews from students, Germany has ranked as the 2nd-best European country for higher education with a score of 4.41/5.00 If you want to learn about ways to study in Germany check out our UAS7 website!

An increase of 10% in only 2 years! The tuition-free education is a huge decision-making factor when choosing a place to study. Out of all international students, around 107,000 study at universities of applied sciences such as our 7 member UAS. We love the internationality.

Next week UAS7 will participate in the NAFSA conference by the Association of International Educators dedicated to international education and exchange. International educators from across the world will gather to discover latest innovations, new strategies, and best practices.

Right now, Artificial Intelligence is thriving and not slowing down anytime soon! In 2023, the market size for AI was $37,32bn and in 2024 it's expected to rise to $50,16bn. Until 2030 it will continuously grow to $223,67bn in the US! AI is such a fascinating topic!

At 2023's Future Forum hosted by DWIH NY, Henrik Schultz and Frederik Stähling from Osnabrück UAS guided 30 experts on a Resilience Walk through Grand Central. This walk helped all of the attendees to see resilience from a new perspective and apply it to a building. Thank you!

Besides living on their own or staying with parents, many German students enjoy living in WGs ("Wohngemeinschaft": living community). Having roommates and spending time with them, e.g. cooking together, can help reduce the stress that many students experience while studying.

On April 26th, TH Köln hosted the UAS7-Roadshow "Wege zur HAW-Professur", explaining how to get professorships at UAS and what that path might look like including tips and from people who have done it themselves. Thank you, TH Köln, for hosting this event and to all speakers too.

Last Wednesday, Germans celebrated "Tag der Arbeit" by not having to work. Traditionally, unions and labor movements use this day to demonstrate for better working conditions, higher wages and more social equality. Many people enjoy the day with foods, drinks, and get-togethers.

On March 22, Executive Director of the NY office, Patrizia Nobbe, PhD, and Executive Director of the Berlin office, Claus Lange, travelled to Munich for a meeting of all the International Offices of our UAS7 members. They discussed the status quo, future projects and much more.

Germany likes innovation! In 2023, compared to the year 2022, there have been 1.444 more applications for patents at the DPMA (Deutsches Patent- und Markenamt), which is an increase of 2.5% #germany #research #researchingermany #uas7 #science #engineering #patent #innovation

Engineering is a popular in Germany! Luckily, our seven universities of applied sciences are very strong in that sector. Another fun fact: out of the over 750.000 engineering students, around 190.000 are female.

Graduate Enrollment in Science, Engineering, and Health (SEH) continues to increase among Foreign Nationals🔬 In 2022, graduate student enrollment in the SEH fields was up by 38,378. SEH master’s enrollment was the highest number recorded with 319,618.

German and Brazilian UAS7 members are specially invited to participate in the 7th International Nursing Day at FH Münster. The topic "Healthcare throughout life" will be the main theme of the conference. Check out the link for more information: t1p.de/9efc4
