Friday is International Women’s Day! UAW has a proud history of fighting for gender equity, and members of Region 6 carry that tradition forward every day, building power to win on issues that disproportionately impact women -- esp. women of color, immigrants, & trans women 🧵

After 8 months of reopener bargaining & numerous job actions including 2 sets of strikes, 76% of voting CFA members approved our TA. We thank members for their solidarity, debate, & courage to press CSU management for better faculty working and student learning conditions.

We WON our union at Caltech! 🎉 Over 76% of graduate students (799/1045 voters) and 83% of postdocs (240/290 voters) voted yes. This is the first time in academic labor history that grads and postdocs voted to unionize simultaneously. Onward towards a better Caltech! 💪

WE FILED! With a supermajority of UCSB student dining hall workers in support, we made the trip to Oakland today to file authorization cards with PERB. UC should do the right thing and recognize our union—but if they don’t we’re ready to keep fighting!

Today is Filing Day! 🎉 We just attempted to deliver our letter requesting a fair process towards union recognition. Unfortunately, Provost Tirrell refused to accept a physical copy. So, we went ahead and taped it onto his door. 😬
