The Iron Pin (received in first year) and the Iron Ring (received in grad year) serves to remind the owner of the responsibilities they hold as lives and safety are at stake for every engineering decision made. They represent steps on the road to becoming a professional engineer.

The first Engineers’ Cairn was a pile of rocks held together with hand-mixed cement and stood for only 2 days. The EUS President declared a new cairn would be built, “but no one will be able to move it.”⁠And so followed a tale of concrete, vandalism, and indestructibility.😉

Materials Engineering focuses on solving complex problems related to the materials we use every day. This ranges from development, application, and disposal of a variety of materials. We have biomedical, manufacturing, and mineral processing streams for further specialization!

Mechanical engineers go into aerospace, biomedical, robotics, manufacturing, automotive, energy, and product design, but you can apply a mechanical engineering degree to virtually any field - ask any design team! Buckle up, and prepare yourself to work with anything that moves.😊

In Manufacturing Engineering, you can expect to learn everything to do with production facilities and producing a product: material selection, mechanical design, production machinery required, Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, and so much more!
