Some key findings: - Most differences stem from how projects handle ambiguity & uncertainty in poor information environments. - Auxiliary coding rules (e.g., counting "people killed" as 2 vs 10 fatalities) explain 90%+ of differences in some cases. (2/3)

New @UCDP data shows conflict is at a historic high. In 2024, the world saw 61 state-based conflicts - the most since WWII. Africa tops the list, nearly doubling in a decade. “Now is not the time to retreat from global engagement," PRIO’s Siri Aas Rustad warns. prio.org/news/3616

“The number of interstate conflicts doubled from two in 2023 to four in 2024. This is the highest number recorded since 1987, reflecting a trend in which interstate conflicts have become increasingly common since 2016.”

@JoakimBlom6 @OAJonsson Enligt UCDPs definition (den mest använda inom forskningen) är väpnad konflikt strider mellan två organiserade parter som resulterar i minst 25 direkta, stridsrelaterade dödsfall under ett år, och de väpnade konflikter som orsakar minst 1000 döda under ett år definieras som krig.
